About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Anxious to return
Our twosome played on a Wednesday afternoon. First time there and were running late. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We played in about 3:15 and loved the course. Agree with other comments on importance of local knowledge and a range finder;. 11, 12 and 17 come to mind. I've played most of the 'semi-private' courses on the north side of Atl and this one is now in my top 3. Anxious to get back as everything greens up.

Late round on Good Friday
We got off after 2 pm on Friday. Course was in good shape. Fairways were firm so the ball got a lot of roll. Greens are really fast. Challenging and fun course with plenty of water hazards. Course GPS with Garmin watch is accurate.

I enjoy this course.
Our foursome had a great experience. We finished at very reasonable time. Fairways and greens were excellent. I like that on 17 that they change the trap in front of the green. It used to be too much a challenge.

Worth the drive!
I play all over North Georgia seeing I live there and this is a great course. I drove almost a hour to play here and it is 100% worth it. I am coming back when this course turns green. Awesome layout and some really fun holes. Plenty of blind tee shots so a range finder does help. You can't just pull driver every hole. If you get a chance head that way.

Excellent greens
Winter golf in Atlanta can mean soggy conditions. That was true of Royal Oaks. Tee shots can be forgiving, but that means many fairways get most of the rain run off leaving the middle tough to play. But, the greens are fantastic, quick and true. And since I favor a course based on the conditions of its greens, I'll be back.

Soggy fairways
The only drawback to this course was the mud, water and bogginess on the fairways. Greens and tee boxes were good.

Course could be decent
But there was no way to determine that during the round. The course should have been closed with rain checks offered. Stood in 1-1/2" of mud in the middle of the fairway on some holes. Decent layout. A lot of water. No way to score well your first time out. Ton of blind tee shots/fairway shots.

Challenging course
Played after a week of rain in the Atlanta area and to my surprise the course was very playable. The greens were in very good shape. Fall=leaves, boy there were a lot of them even in the fairway, hard to keep up with your ball.

Great Golf on A Drizzly Day
I had a great round playing in light rain. Course was in very good shape. I play Royal Lakes about once a month. I play different courses because I travel around Georgia. This is always one of my favorites!

Great Value
I try and play as many new courses, within about a 60 mile radius of Cumming, GA as I can. Maybe 40 in the last 3 years. This ranks right up there near the top. A really nice layout. Challenging, but fair. Lots of elevation change, and undulating big greens. Great scenic course. I played by myself, on a Sunday morning, in a little over 3 hours.
