Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club
About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Hole 11 Green Photo submitted by baldeagle218 on 05/17/2019
Best course around in North Georgia
I'm new to the area and I've played lots of courses around North Georgia and this has been my favorite thus far. Great course with challenging looks and unique holes. Only complaint is the pace of play was very slow!
GREAT FUN
Had a business associate from out of town. He was impressed as was I. Great "find" in Flowery Branch. Headed back to play again soon. Reminder: always repair your ball marks...it makes it better for everybody! Thanks :-)
Great
Each hole has character and they are fairly easy if you can keep it in play. Beautiful holes and fun to play. The only complaint is at the turn we stopped to get a drink and a candy bar and we were in there for 20 minutes trying to get the staff to work the credit card machine
This was a challenging but fair course
Very nice course, well maintained, greens excellent condition, pace of play was good, staff was excellent, we lucked out the weather was very good.
No Water?
It was a typical and steamy Georgia summer. Imagine what ! There was no drinking water all over the course under over 95 steamy weather. I was told the employee in charge didn't come to work.
Then??? What??? Unbelievable.
Very Enjoyable Round of Golf
Been a while since I'd been to Royal Lakes. It was very pleasant round of golf. Shot placement was important. Would have been good to have some type of "hole diagrams" on the scorecards for folks who don't play their often. Several "blind shots" where course experience would've been a big help! Greens were challenging but not punishing! People need to be reminded to repair ball marks - not just here but EVERYWHERE!
Great Course For All Skill Levels
This course was recommended from a friend and I was a little hesitant because of the 1hr drive. When I arrived I saw the area and it was beautiful. We hit some balls and then hit the first tee box. First fairway has some challenge out the gate and no disappointments from there. I loved every fairway and even the par 3's had some element of risk reward to keep you thinking and playing your short game with minimal flaws to score. Would make the drive again and Golf now price was a steal.
Lots of damp fairways and roped off areas
The course was very damp and over half of the holes you were only allowed on the cart path. Greens were a work in progress. I've played here many times but was disappointed recently.
Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club
Course was in excellent condition. Fairways and greens were superb. Lay-out is very challenging for the averaged golfer. Thick Bermuda rough makes for difficult shots. Beverage cart is very nice touch.
Nice all-around
Challenging for a beginner but a great experience. Nice course with picturesque holes. Had a par on 11 with 3rd shot within 10 feet of hole. (worth the whole round!)
challenging layout
The tees, fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The sand traps could use some repair (new sand would do the job) The help was courteous and we were able to tee off right on time and were not pushed by anyone nor did we catch anyone. Greens were above par and so was I. Had a great time. Played entire round in less than three hours. We will be back on a regular basis.
Monday mid afternoon
Nice course. Love the layout. Different looks on every hole. Cart guy didn't seem too happy but it didn't effect my round. Will definitely play again!
Great Time!
I was very pleased with Royal Lakes. The course was in really good condition, the staff was very friendly, and we were able to play 18 holes in about three hours and 15 minutes. This course also provides a really good challenge. I will definitely be back!
beautiful breeze
The course is pretty but there are a lot of blind tee shots. One hole has an almost island green with 2 water crossings. It is a hdden gem.
Purchase a Yardage Book...
This was the first time we have played Royal Lakes, so my buddy bought a yard book. What a great purchase... Not only does it have the full layout of the holes, but a detailed description of the greens, and yardage to either lay up or got for it on certain holes. It kept those hitting a great shot 30 yards past the landing area into the water away. Fairways were Great , except for some drainage areas after all the recent rain, Greens were in fantastic shape as well. Definitely will play here again.
Nice Layout
I really enjoy the layout of this course. The greens are some of the best I have seen this year. The fairways have improved greatly over the last 2 weeks.
Good service and friendly
Good condition ! And challenge but some fair way need to improve !
Great day for golf
I told my wife in the mid of the afternoon just to get out of the office and she turned out to be a great caddie. We enjoyed the course great or no pacing. Just a wonderful day on the course with my wife. G.O.L.F. that a misnomer (Gentleman often Ladies Fine). The no# 10 island green a must play.
Great Course
Royal Lakes is one of the best lay outs north of Atlanta. It was in great shape.
