About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Everthing about this course was excellent. This course was worth the hour drive from Fairburn Ga.

Unfortunately too much rain past 3 days
The course was really too wet to play, cart path only so we basically walked it. The sand traps were essentially washed away they had about 5" rain over the past 3 days. Price was good thru golf now app. This course is beautiful and would in most cases be a wonderful course to play. The bent grass greens are pretty soft several bruises and I'm sure all the rain only exaggerated the softness. We will give it another try, under dry conditions.
Course is in really good shape, some bunkers could use more sand
Royal lakes is always a fun and challenging course. Greens are receptive and in good shape for bent greens this late in the hot weather.

Great course
This course is definitely one of my favorites.
It's beautiful layout, and challenging holes make for a great outing.
The staff is friendly as well as your fellow golfers.
Greens need a little love, but that also falls on other golfers to fix divets and ball marks. Overall great place to play at a reasonable price.

Royal Lakes - Weekday Afternoon Round
Great, highly variable course. Plays short but lots of shot making required - especially on #11. Pretty good greens. Great pace of play on a Wednesday afternoon - finished 18 holes in just over 2.5 hours.

Great Value
Great course, terrific value, challenging but fair. The greens are lightning fast, but the bunkers have hardened and are difficult to exit gracefully. They could stand additional sand and/or grooming. The tee boxes and fairways are in great shape. Very nice course and layout, if you haven't already played this course, you should put it on your schedule.

Everything Great except ball marks on the greens.
This course is in excellent condition except for the greens. The greens would be fine if not for the ball marks that are all over them. Not sure if the course could send someone out once or twice a week to repair them. Some courses have a few holes with ball mark problems but here it is every hole. Otherwise this is a nice course in great condition.

Terrible greens
The greens on this course were the worst I have played on this year ! Fairways and tee boxes were fine but the greens were terrible.

The grass on these greens are bent grass. During the summer the bent grass stresses and ball marks do not heal as quickly as the other seasons. By your comment, you have either played your rounds of golf on Bermuda grass greens or courses that have a substantial budget. In the later case, I would bet the rate you paid would not be the same as GOLFNOW at this course. However, to "label" the greens are the worst is not fair to the course. I played this course July 25 in the heat of the day. From my experience, with the exception of, brown, healing ball marks on the greens and two isolated small areas, the green were good, not terrible.

Hot, hot, hot!
I had a delightful round despite the 90+++ heat. The elevated areas of the course even had a breeze. The staff were helpful and encouraged me to stay hydrated. The other golfers on the course were friendly. I was invited to play through a few foursomes allowing me to finish in under 4 hours. The bentgrass greens are nice, but were a little slow today. Overall, it's worth the drive, especially at this price point.

Hidden gem
I live 20 minutes away from this course, and I hadn't played it in three years, so it was nice getting back out there. The greens were phenomenal speaking that they were bent grass and it was 96 degrees. Overall great condition, and fairly neat layout (exception hole 11) would definitely recommend, but try and book through golf now because the course rates posted on their site are a bit pricy

Excellent course and great value
I have found my new favorite course north of Atlanta. Challenging but now stupid hard. Some very unique holes that will be left in your mind long after leaving the course. The island green is beautiful and the course was meticulously maintained. I'll take this course over Chateau or Reunion any day!

Royal Lakes
My home course was being core aerated and top dressed and I looked for a course that I was familiar with that had a good morning rate. Hadn't played this course in fifteen years, but so glad I did. In fact I played on Monday and Tuesday along with my golf buds. Course is in excellent shape and the bent grass greens were awesome, but not quite as fast as the mini Verdi I was accustomed to. Great track with straight forward holes (no tricks). I highly recommend this course!

Course Closed After Brief Storm
Drove up an hour from Atlanta to play. After storm rolled in, the horn sounded, and the starter told us we should seek cover and wait the storm out. After 20 minutes the skies cleared and we resumed playing on a fairly dry and quite playable course. On the 9th hole a different employee told us that the course was closed, and yelled at us for continuing to play because the course had been closed for an hour and the horn had sounded. When we questioned him, he stated that he did not want us to mess up "his course." However, the skies had cleared, the course was fine, and it appeared that the staff just wanted to go home for the day. If you don't want to deal with a rude staff and risk having your outing be ruined at the first instance of poor weather, don't play here.

I was there that day waiting until about 530PM. Your experience was not what we received. We got rain checks, explanations and radar views of incoming weather. We made the choice to leave.
