Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club
About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Golfer Reviews
Good shape, slow greens
Fun layout and not too hard from proper tees. Very good condition but greens are slooooow. I know they need to be protected from the heat but seemed like they hadn't been mowed in a day or 2. Overall very good and food in clubhouse was excellent.
Great Value
When I was in Florida my friend took me to Doral to play a round of golf. I never played on such a fine course before this. Well we have a comparable golf course here in Georgia.
Everything was great, except the greens...
This is not the first nor the last time I will play at Royal Lakes. Overall the course was very well maintained, but most golfers judge a course by the greens. The greens looked in great condition, and previous golfers repaired ball marks as they should; however, the greens were extremely slow.
Course condition great, pace of play, not so much
Royal Lakes, from the black is challenging but fun. Course condition is excellent from tee to bunkers to green, hats off to the superintendent. I know the pro is concerned about pace of play because I overheard him asking starters what time groups were making the turn. I just wish every course would do everything possible to ensure maximum 4 hour round.
Royal Lakes Review
I've been wanting to place this course for a while, and finally had the opportunity and I am very glad I did! The course was very challenging with lots of changing elevations, raised green guarded by deep traps, and water on a number of holes. The greens were not super fast, but rolled good and true. The fairways were lush and green. The eleventh hole was a jewel having to go over water to a landing area and then into an island green awesome! The clubhouse worker was very friendly and helpful. Practice facilities were also super. The only thing bad for the day was my play!
greens & fairways great.
greens and fairways were in great condition. low points in traps needed work due to recent heavy rains but I was fortunate to miss all but one. a yardage book is available and helpful for those unfamiliar with the course. starters and cart staff were very attentive and helpful.
This course is always a great value for your money.
Nice course. A bit of a drive from the city of Atlanta but a nice round of golf. A little wet in some areas but overall a nice day on a nice course.
nice course, well maintained, friendly staff. several unique and interesting holes
5/12/2013se. Well maintained, friendly staff. Several unique and interesting holes
good track, too slow
the only issue is, it is SLOW, no marshaling, five hours is unacceptable, we saw at least 2 fivesomes and 1 sixsome.
Come on....
we are all amateurs and everyone is lining up 2 footers.
There is no concern for anyone else on the course.
Foursomes with a hole or two open, would not let a twosome plat through because they friends were in front of them, jeez
This course is so nice and yet so inexpensive to play!
I've played my share of goat tracks and Ive also had the privilege to play a number of PGA tour courses. And I must say that Royal Lakes is up there with some of the nicest courses out there. Especially since you can play at such a great price! It will definitely give you a challenge with some very scenic holes. Thoroughly enjoyed this course.
Excellent for a hot deal
I played this for the first time on a Tuesday in late April. It was a little busy for mid-week (1pm) but staff did well to keep up starting times and pace. Greens had been punched 8 days prior but were healing up pretty well. Nice layout, some challenging holes on the back 9. #11 has an impressive island green on a par 5 that forces two carefully places shots before going for the green. #14 is 195 yds from blue, about 180 of which must carry water; tough par 3 but not impossible, as we heard one of the members had aced it earlier that day - David and I each sank a couple balls trying. Deep bunkers on a few holes offer a nice challenge.
Okay course, need some work around the greens, 3 had huge areas of no grass around them.
Okay course, nothing to get too excited about. Conditions around the greens were a little rough and the course was not well manicured at all. The cart guy at bag drop was snippy, grouchy and generally unhelpful, I felt like I was doing him a favor by playing. Apparently customer service is not in his repertoire, this is where you should be making a great first impression for your customer.
Tough to return with this attitude, I can get bad service anywhere for free.
Great layout
Excellent value surrounded by beautiful homes. Course is hilly and greens are in great shape. Four sets of tees so something for everyone.
Challenging Layout
The course has a nice challenging layout.I like the unique features that each hole had.Liked the island green par 5 hole the most and the greens were in great shape.Look forward to playing again.
Awesome Course
Great course for value. Pace of round was great even for Saturday. Greens were a bit fast but overall course was great!
The course was in great shape for this time of the year.
With all the rain we have had ,you would expect the fairways to be damp in some spots, which they were. I did not expect to find the bunkers in as good as shape as they were in. The sand was in really good shape. I felt like the greens were almost up to summer time conditions, very inpressed !
