Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club
About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Hole 11 Green Photo submitted by baldeagle218 on 05/17/2019
A course that should be added to your must play list
When i first drove by this course and saw the hole that had an island green i knew then this was a place that i had to play and i would recommend playing this course to any one who was looking for above average course
In great shape...
Course was in great shape, greens were a little slower than we had been used to playing so it took several holes to get the pace right..
Enjoyable course to play
Royal Lakes has many interesting holes that demand good decisions and accurate shots. The greens were not as fast as I have seen them in the past, but were in good condition and uniform.
Enjoyable course to play.
Royal Lakes has an interesting mix of holes that challenge you to make good decisions and accurate shots. The course was in good condition and the greens were in good shape although not as fast as they have played at other times.
Great Course
Play it 2 or 3 times a month the greens a pretty good a little rough around the edge. Nice club house . There are a few holes that will challange your skill level but that is what makes it a fun course.
Former "mini" tour stop
Good challenge from just about every tee level. Considering the time of year, course conditions were just fine. A number of holes on both sides provide chances for birdies as well as other less desirable scores!
A "Hot Deal" from Golf Now makes it a worthwhile golf experience.
Challenging, sceanic course in the north GA foothills. Rolling terrain with several forced carries over water
Challenging layout with lots of water and uneven lies due to the hilly terrain. While the course is visually appealing, it can also be intimidating at times, so be sure to play appropriate tees for your ability. Fairways in generally good to excellent condition, but I was a little disappointed in the shape of the greens and tee boxes overall. Many tee boxes seemed a bit uneven and needed to be cut. Greens still had some damage from summer heat and humidity, but generally putted okay with moderate speed.
Somewhat better value than its competitors in the area.
As usual, Royal Lakes provides an interesting challenge without being "tricked" up. As with virtually all public daily fee courses, the greens are marred by far too many unrepaired ball marks, unfilled fairway divots and bunkers with footprints. While there may be no good solution to these problems of golf etiquette, it does detract from the experience if one wants to play it as it lays.
Really nice course
The putting greens were sanded about 2 weeks before I played so they were just OK. The course was in good shape for fall.
Good greens and great staff
Played here on a Saturday at noon, course played really nice , greens were well maintained and played a bit fast for my liking. The staff was great as well, and the price was pretty good to.
Worth the drive.....
Plenty of golf course, but a fair challenge. Always a pleasure to play!
Fun Course
This course is a really fun round. There has never been a wait in the 4 times that I have played there. There is some construction on a few of the greenside bunkers. The greens are in good shape.
Great course for the money.
Course was in great shape from tee box to green. There were a few sand bunkers that needed some new fresh sand. Only complaint was we never saw the beverage cart the whole round.
There were zero ball washers on the course.
Well kept course
I enjoyed the course very much. The fairways and greens were in good condition. The greens were a little slow. They had been sanded recently but were true and smooth. The other players have been repairing their ball marks which you don't see that often.
Great Experience
First time playing this course, and we had a blast. Could compete with many courses that charge twice the price. Definitely a good value for the money!
Great course
Greens were ok but all courses in ga has heat issue but can't complain great course
Super Nice Course
Course is always in excellent condition. Nice clubhouse and dinning room. Their signature hole #11 is a fun par 5 with an island green. When you play ask to speak to Bob he is a super nice guy.
A Decent Private Course
Royal Lakes is a challenging and fun layout. The course has several holes with water in play and / or significant elevation change that I always find entertaining, especially when I'm lucky enough to start and finish with the same ball. The whole private club mentality (ie- don't drive carts in the parking lot, attendants that swarm for tips at the end of a round, etc) is difficult for me to swallow but that's my problem, not theirs. If I'm looking to play and I can find a good deal on a tee time, I'm happy to play at Royal Lakes.
