Jekyll Island Golf Club - Indian Mound Course
About
Jekyll Island Golf Club is Georgia's largest public golf facility, offering three 18-hole courses and a nine-hole course. Two of the 18-hole courses, Pine Lakes and Indian Mound, have similar characteristics since they sit side by side. Both are younger than the Oleander, which is considered the toughest of the three and served as host to the Georgia Open for four years. The Indian Mound Course is the shortest of the three at just under 6,500 yards from the back tees but that is not to say you won't run into a fair amount of challenges. The layout features lengthy par 5s that you wouldn't expect given the yardage, and the par 4s offer scoring opportunities for those who take advantage of the short shots into the green. The Indian Mound Course's main challenges are the undulating greens and abundance of sand.

Indian Mound is a fair and fun course to play.
The greens were a bit on the slow side but that is expected for a course that gets as much play in a state park. The layout is straight-forward and there is not a lot of water hazards, but the ones that exist do come into play. It was in good shape for this time of year and you can't beat the price through Golf Now!
nice suprise
This course had a nice layout, great clubhouse and was in decent shape, excellent fairways but slow greens.
Eden
Beautiful. Manicured to perfection. There is absolutely nothing negative to be said about their entire operation; management, maintenance, staff or dining facility.
Lots of wildlife!
We played a couple days after the Georgia-Florida tournament. The course was in good shape. I couldn't tell they had just had a tournament with 350 players. The course was still pretty wet from the rain the day before, so some of the bunkers had packed sand/needed raking. They can't control the weather. Plenty of animals on the course. We saw alligators, deer, red tail hawks, turtles, etc. Great value for the money and the pace of play was excellent. We will definitely be back. Also, the Golfnow.com transaction was easy and didn't have any hitches.
saw more deer on the course than i usualy do in the woods
me and a friend drove up from Jacksonville ( little over an hour )
and it was well worth it. One of the best courses I've ever played. No such thing as a bad lie. The whole course was in excellent condition. In fact the greens rolled so much more true than what I'm used to that it was tough to make a putt. Overall a very nice experience and I will be playing there again !!
Played long today.
Course played long today due to swirling winds. Often played two club wind into greens. Greens over seeded and in good condition. All bunkers needed attention.
Indian Mound Course--Jekyll Island
Indian Mound features a pleasant layout and good course conditions. Length from the blues was not generally a problem, and the course played well in comparatively dry conditions--the comparison being between Indian Mound in the afternoon and Oleander in the morning a couple of days later [it would not be a surprise to learn that Indian Mound was two to three feet higher in general than Oleander, but I couldn't swear to it]. Pay attention to your hydration levels--if there's not much traffic on the course, you may not see a beverage cart, and the front 9 did not appear to offer much by way of watering stations.
This course had wide fairways and well groomed greens.
Found the course to be friendly even if you can't hit it straight off the tee. Wide fairways and groomed greens made the experience rewarding. Appreciated the lightning warning system especially this time of year. They tend to pop up rather fast so it was good to know someone was watching so I could concentrate on my game.
Good course to play on vacation
Great shape considering recent aeration. Played in August - not many ppl out there bc it was summer. Played at my pace.
Great Conditions and a Lovely Setting
The course is in excellent condition and well maintained. Fairly friendly fairways, and minimal water but I found myself in a couple of "well-placed" bunkers. The setting is beautiful and roaming deer add to the atmosphere. If you can bear the mid-day heat, you should find little traffic on the course this time of year.
A beautiful golf course that meanders through the oaks and pines of Jekyll Island.
It is both a fair and challenging golf course. The fairways are very well maintained. The greens roll true and have enough changes in elevation to make reading them fun. The staff is very professional and courteous. It was a pleasure for mywife and I to play.
The fairways and greens were in great condition
Everyone was very nice. The only thing that could have been better was if there had been more yardage markers.
In good shape
The course is in really good shape. The greens were a touch slow but very playable, tee to green was excellent, and the bunkers were maintained. Overall very enjoyable and peaceful.
Great Value for a Beach Course
I played my round in early July, and I was impressed by the low prices for a Saturday afternoon. Two of the other courses were closed for green aeration, and it was obvious that Indian Mound had recently been aerated. Regardless of the aeration, they were not in great shape (bare patches, brown turf), which is surprising considering they are bermuda. However, the rest of the course was very well maintained, and the staff was very nice. A great golf experience, and I would recommend playing here.
Beautiful scenic course.
The fairways are wide for any type of golfer. Excellant condition and very friendly staff. The greens were just aerated, so they were very slow. This was the only reason for a 4 on the review. The greens were bumpy and no a true roll. First time we have played the golf and will play again.
Very Nice Course
The course was in excellent condition. Wide fairways and not much trouble. Greens had recently been aerated but they still rolled very well. Pace of play was very good. The only reason I am not giving a five star rating is because there was very little drinking water on the course and no cart service on a Sunday morning. Other than that, everything was very nice.
Great Course/ Great Value !!
This course is one of my favorites in the Jacksonville/Brunswick area. The course is always in beautiful condition and ready for a great round of golf. The setting is among some old growth punctuated with beautiful secluded lakes. It's not a modern golf course in the sense that it is surrounded by houses with people mowing lawns, cooking and playing the radio. This is a secluded course that is very peaceful. Oh, and the Island deer. They are a joy to watch. They walk across the fairways and nibble the long grass in the rough. It is a must play!
Course is in great shape. Excellent value for the deal.
Staff very helpful. Course is very well kept. Very slow group in front of us which made for a 2 hr 40 min front 9. The ranger/starter took care of that after the front.
This course is the best of the three 18 holes on Jekyl Island.
I have played all three courses on Jekyl Island and Indian Mound is best suited for the senior golfer. The fairways are wide in the landing area and the grass on the fairway is cut so that there is some grass under the ball so you can get better loft with the irons. There is water on the course but should not come into play but does add to the beauty of the course. The greens do take some getting use to as they can be pretty fast when putting down slope on the green. This is really a great course.
