Applewood Golf Course

Before I go any further…I love this course! The layout, condition and staff is great. We had a tee time and I showed up early to check in. There was a line of about 10 people in front of me and we ended up teeing off 10 min after. We were the last group before the weekly tournament tees off. The gentleman behind us played the gold tees and it was best ball format so they rode us the entire day. Told the Marshall on two separate occasions we held up pace of play even though we had people in front of us. I was told to hit into a green with people on it by the Marshall. (240 yards with a 3W) I didn’t and waited until they cleared. The Marshall came another time and told us to hurry up. And the people behind us were harassing us and even hit into us before we cleared the 17 par 3. Pace of play front 9: 1:50, back 9: 1:40 min. Total for all 18: 3.5 hours which is far below the average.

This was my first time playing. The staff(Matt I believe) was gracious and walked me through some of the course notes. The layout was fun but challenging. The greens were by far the most challenging part of the course. If I lived closer I would love to have this as my home course. Also items in the pro shop were very reasonable priced from golf balls to Golf Shirts. Value of the round would be nearly impossible to beat.

Always a pleasure to play Applewood. Great conditions, great staff and fun layout. Only issue today was the pushy single behind me golfing in a t-shirt. Improper golf attire aside, this jerk tried to push his way through me on #13 even though there was a twosome in front of me and a foursome in front of them. I wound up joining the twosome on #16 and still played in under 3 hours. Golf course staff should more enforce proper golf attire. T-shirts have no place on the golf course. This jerk’s behavior is indicative of why.

This course is without a doubt in great shape less than 24 hours after a hard rain. It handles water better than any course in the Augusta area. Course is in great shape and people are always friendly. Can’t beat the pricing and worth extra 15 or 20 minute drive to get there.

Applewood is always a good place to play. They maintain the course well and it is very reasonable to play there. Course is fairly wide open with some fun risk reward dog legs on the back 9. Fairways in very good shape and the greens rolled well althougn there was some repairs on several greens around the fringes. This does not impact play. Go Play !

Excellent course wide open but rough can be think stay in fairway. Pair of dogleg rights on back nine each have water and slide fades will get your ball wet - play safe out to the left.

This course is a hidden gem. Our experience was better than expected. They really care about and work on the course. We're traveling but would play again if in the area.A

Went looking for a deal on GolfNow to try to get 18 in after work. Applewood Golf Course fit the bill, so I reserved a tee time and hit the road (it was about 30 miles from my hotel, but definitely worth the drive). Pro Shop staff were very friendly and helpful. I was provided a course guide booklet, as it was my first time at the course and that was very helpful in guiding how to play each hole. There are a lot of blind doglegs and other hole setups that require you to choose a landing zone, so the guide definitely can save you 10 or more strokes just avoiding the temptation to “go for it”. Fairways were wide and flat. Gave plenty of opportunities to recover from a less than perfect shot. Greens rolled smoothly. NOTE: Some greens have heat damage and ground under repair, but the sections are clearly marked and, for a laid back player like me, I didn’t mind taking relief to a section of the green that wasn’t affected. Overall, I would definitely recommend this course and will try to get another round in before I leave town at the end of the week.

First time playing this course and it was an excellent round. The conditions of this course were outstanding. I’ve played golf all over Georgia and this course has the best conditions for value to date. The fairways are the best I’ve seen this year.
