Collins Hills Golf Club is a little known course to outsiders, but it is a local favorite. The traditional parkland layout tumbles across a rolling terrain. The golf course features small, undulating greens and narrows fairways bordered by towering trees. The layout demands accuracy especially with the numerous sand bunkers that have been incorporated into the design. Several ponds and lakes are scattered across the course, coming into play on seven holes. The layout has its challenges but it is still gentle enough to accommodate a variety of different skill levels. Before playing, golfers can warm up on the driving range or utilize the other practice facilities. Collins Hills Golf Club's atmosphere definitely plays a role in the club's popularity, offering all of the amenities of a private club with a casual and friendly setting

Collins hill Golf Club

I played this course about 5 years ago, and told myself I would never come back to play here. Read some reviews and some people were saying it had gotten better, so I tried the course again. I can confidently say this might be the worst golf course in the state of Georgia. The fact that this Golf Club has the balls to charge more than $30 to play this course blows my mind.

1. Course conditions - if you don’t split the fairway (for most holes) your ball is most likely OB. Half of the “fairways” are on a hill, so even if you split the fairway you are most likely hitting a ball under your feet or above your feet.

2. Greens- they’re turf, pin locations were questionable.

3. Cart path- The slanted fairways are smoother than the cart paths, on hole 18 there legit isnt a cart path.

Collins Hill Golf

I have been playing this course for over 40 years! It is a fun but difficult course. The greens are sloped, fast but true. The fairways have mostly thick turf, though there are places where there are rocks.

Forgot how bad it was

I played this course for the first time last year and swore I wouldn't play it again. Well I did play it again because I forgot exactly how bad it was. This course doesn't have a smooth surface on it anywhere. The fairway is nothing but bumps and craters, literally. Between the cart path and the fairway, it's like driving offroad. It's need a complete regrade of each fairway. It's just awful.

To make it worse, the clubhouse is a money grab. Sandwiches are $8.00 and are clearly homemade from a loaf of store bought bread and some deli meat. The driving range is the worst I've played.

I played here this time because it was a last minute booking and it was cheap. The only benefit was that there was hardly anyone playing so we had plenty of time.

It's a shame because the holes layouts are pretty nice, they are just in serious neglect and in need of a complete service.

It for some reason I forgot how bad it is, I'll make sure to read this review again to remind myself. Do yourself a favor and play somewhere else or go to a SIM that day.

Getting better

This is my local course that I play most often due to convenience alone. Having said that, minus the cart paths and some carts that need serious work, it is apparent the county is investing in the course. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are MUCH better than years past. In fact, the greens are the best I’ve ever seen them on this course. They still need work in the sand traps (some are just converted to grass and should be addressed). Overall, this is a pretty tight, challenging course that will punish you quickly if 1 shot is off target per hole. Anyone that shoots in the low 80s here is a very skilled golfer. I still think the prices are too high for what you get though… mid-high $40s is more realistic. Adding everything together, CH is a solid 3.5 stars and improving :) Keep it up Gwinnett County!

Not worth full price

Course has a decent layout but that is the only thing going for it. You should not be paying $60 for a course with carts with no brakes and beat down greens. Most of the staff is friendly but unfortunately there a few unfriendly ones that makes me regret giving my money away to them. I only recommend if you live around the area and don’t want to drive far. Even then, I would probably only go when they offer at reduced rates. They are taking advantage of the post-Covid golf popularity with their prices and failing to invest in the course.

Lots of challenges

The course was in fairly decent shape. There were areas where the grass was a bit too high, making finding the ball difficult. The cost per round was steep, even with a discount.

Their carts are death traps

Spotty greens, happens and I can deal with it. Slow group in front of you? Welcome to most golf courses. But…Golf carts with brakes that don’t work reliably on a course with very hilly terrain?? Now that’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Just a matter of time…

Very Slow pace of play

I have played here several times but was first time playing Saturday afternoon 1330 tee. Very nice course conditions. Pace of play was very slow. I had to skip holes 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13, still took over 4 hrs to complete. I only saw marshall on 17th hole.

The guy that works the front desk in the pro shop on Friday morning’s is awful. Rudest, worse customer service I’ve ever seen at a golf course.
