About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Nice track - really good value!
Coming from North Atlanta to meet my son coming from Athens for a round. Good location for that. Nice track, fairways in good shape, good rough, fringe and greens good but greens very quick due to lack of rain. Will definitely play here again.

A repeat favorite
I like everything about this course. Clubhouse is quick to get in and out of, fairways and greens are consistently good and most players are courteous and play is at a decent pace. The only small issue is a couple of homeowners; one on 17 and one on 18 that seem to be living where they shouldn't. Beyond that, the course is always a good time.

The greens had dead spots and I had to wait for a golf cart.
Greens best we’ve played in 2 months
Great track. Excellent condition and staff was Super. Greens were outstanding when a lot of courses near by have been struggling. We will be back

Fun Short Course
I returned to this course after not playing here in 12 years and was reminded of how fun this course is.
I gave the off course amenities an average rating but didn’t go into the grill for food/drinks or shop in the golf shop.
My main concern with this round was that we were told that we were the second tee time at check in, but after a slight delay while waiting for enough light to see our shots, we pulled up to the first tee to see a foursome in the fairway and five on the tee box, with one player using their own personal cart. The starter didn’t seem interested in this situation, and couldn’t even be bothered to get one of our playing partners a fresh scorecard while we were waiting for 9 people on the tee during our tee time.
The greens were slow, but rolled true. The gentleman on the Salsco roller could have taken the time to blow off the greens as the roller was leaving grass clippings on each green. And while I do understand that smallish greens can cause issues, some of the pin locations today were in some pretty serious positions. The bunkers could use some more sand and the golf course could use some post-emergent for weed control.
While I wasn’t entirely thrilled with the visit, the golf course is fun and should be a course people visit for a quick round.

Many courses lately has the rough too long and losing balls just of the fairway

Course was well maintained, few rough spots here and there and on the cart path, but overall nice course, will definitely be back for another round.

This course is well groomed overall and the layout is fair for most golfers.
The greens were recently sanded which is necessary so they played a little more difficult.
