About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

This place has really gone down hill
The greens were burnt out and rock hard. There was no attempt to control pace of play. (It took twenty minutes to tee off after the turn). The fairways are patchy, what has grass is fluffy. At almost 40 dollars I left feeling as if I had over paid by 10 or 15 dollars

Good Times
Course was beautiful and clean, it was one of the most well kept course I’ve seen, I still played Awful and had a terrible game but that’s my own albatross. 10/10 love this course

Has come a long way
Wow I wad presently surprised in the condition of this course. I have Play this course many times but it got to a point that it was in such bad shape that was worth the money nor the drive but now I’m glad to see that it’s in much much better shape.. would definitely go back. Fun course and nice layout.

Condition of course
I have played here several times. It has a great layout with challenging holes. It has been a little while since I had been there and this time the condition of the course was not what I expected. Given the fair weather we have had this spring, it should have been further along. Maybe warmer weather will help the Bermuda. The course was packed that day and the staff was doing their best to do things right with the covid issue and to keep people moving through.
Greens not grown in
management is very accommodating and the new carts are very nice. I have no doubt things will improve but right now, the grass on the greens is very thin and greens have been sanded...making for hard, fast surfaces...but greens are consistent on all 18.

Course conditions
The staff was friendly but unfortunately the course conditions were very rough the grass was sparse on the tee boxes, fairways and greens. The course has potential with better maintenance

Aeration
Played on Tuesday 5/5 and course was recently aerated or the greens are burned up. Tee boxes were ok and fairways were ok as well. The rough was recently punched. Extremely disappointed in the fact that I wasn’t at least told of the recent aeration before booking my tee tome and paying the normal
Rate.

Quick round
We played as a threesome at 8:00 and finished at 11:00, so a 3-hour round. The only complaint was the pin placements were almost all only 3 paces from an edge of the green. They must have had a reason for it but their greens are so hard that it was not physically possible to get the ball remotely close to any of the front pins. Again, there must have been a greenskeeper reason for this, but it was a bit annoying.

Terrible people/staff. Rude as can be. Rate of play is terrible. Looked to be a nice course but my business will be else where
