About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Fun Course

Never Been Early for a Tee Time and Denied Start
When we checked in we were told the pace was on time or even a little early.
We hit some range balls and went to the first tee 10 minutes early only to find the club... wanting to get their members only scramble started a little early had already started teeing off!!!
We were told we would have to go to the 10th tee and try to “squeeze” in between the other golfers already playing and then have to do the same on the front 9 when done with the back!!
Never in my life have I EVER been 10 minutes EARLY for my tee time only to be told I had missed it.
Really poor course management and rude and unacceptable golf etiquette!!
Very disappointed is all that can be said.

Excellent greens, love the cuts around the greens and fairways. Tee boxes are well maintained. You’ll love this course - go play it soon. Staff is very friendly.

Not at it's best
Over the years I have enjoyed playing at The Providence Club. The layout is interesting and fair. Course maintenance is at an all time low point. There are many fallen trees and tree limbs down on the course. Several greens have large dead patches. The greens are long, uneven and poorly managed, Fairways have received minimal management and the turf is in poor condition. Many lawns in the neighborhood are in better condition that the fairways. I have played Providence in past years where it was one of the better maintained publicly accessible courses.
The pace of play was 4:30 with an 8:00 AM Tee time. There is no reason for the pace of play to exceed 4:00 hours on Providence at any time and certainly not with an early morning tee time. There was no effort made to manage the pace of play.

Favorite Course
Providence has and ALWAYS will be my favorite course. I learned and grew on this course. Cannot beat the challenge for the money.

Fun course
This is a great course. I was doing well and thoroughly enjoying myself until an individual mowing rode right up to the green and left it idling pretty loud next to the green while I was chipping and putting. Aside from that experience I enjoyed it.

Zero Help
Course wasn’t great. Greens awful. Clubhouse was WORTHLESS when a hailstorm ended my round early and i wanted to get a rain check.

Providence
We had a fun overall round and the course is in pretty good shape. The fairways were cut and had green in them. The only little problem was that the greens had bare spots on them. They had sand on them and if your line was in front of one you did not know where it was going. Other than that it was fun and will be back.

Nice secluded course
First time at TPC and it was a very nice day, weather-wise and otherwise. Everything but greens seemed to be in nice condition, but those were a little rough (have seen much of that this year with rain and lots of courses having staffing issues due to COVID19).
Will definitely go back! Nice folks in pro shop and Janet in restaurant/bar super nice.

Decent course
Like the course, but they have cart issues, just about missed the tee time due to people with later tee times taking the carts.

June day perfect and coures great
Check in was slow. Course is one you should play, a few greens had some bad sports, but puttable. Tees and fairways nice!!!
