Henderson Golf Club
About
Henderson Golf Club is a local favorite since it is the most affordable public course in Savannah. The course wanders across a scenic landscape accented with towering pines, pristine wetlands, colorful magnolia trees, and mature oaks artfully draped with Spanish moss. Playing the golf course is like getting two for one with a front nine that is almost completely open, much like a traditional links course, while the back nine is narrower with trees lining the fairways. The undulating greens are tricky since they are bordered by generous collars that require a delicate touch. The nines have a different character from one another but they are equally challenging. Henderson Golf Club is a manageable length at 6,700 yards from the back tees. It's a layout that favors accuracy, strategy, and creative shot making over distance.

Good Value
Arizona golfer just looking to play a Georgia course after attending the Masters on Monday. GPS pointed me to this course and I stopped by the pro shop to check about getting out. No problem, green fees including a cart with 2 cool drinks - 24 dollars. Smoking deal as far as I was concerned.
The course is very well laid out and scenic. The condition is spotty to say the least. I've never seen greens this bad before. I think this a course that needs to be played a couple of times to figure out where you should hit the ball. A couple of times I hit good drives that ended up in trouble I couldn't see from the tee. I had trouble adjusting to the distance my ball was flying and was over a lot of greens and in trouble.
All that said, I'd play it again tomorrow for 24 dollars.
The back nine was amazing. I loved how some of the holes were secluded in the woods
I am a South Florida golfer who is accustom to golfing in neighborhoods with houses surrounding the course. Even though this course was in a neighborhood a lot of the holes, especially on the back 9 were secluded in the woods. The fairways are lined with big beautiful trees. Some of the views were truly spectacular and for the price you cannot beat it. The only disappointment was the greens, they definitely needed some attention. When you are playing for money and you have a 15 foot put that's bouncing around because of sub par greens it can be frustrating. Overall I had a great experience and would play there again and again.
This course is a good value.
The course is in good shape with the exception of some bunkers and a couple greens. I will be playing again soon. Good value.
Pleasant course, good value..
Very pleasant round, played in just over 3 1/2 hours. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Greens looked to have had a little winter kill and not fully grown in, however, they were quicker and putted truer than they looked.
Good value for the price.
henderson golf club
the greens were horrible. they were spray painted an ugly color of green & the pock marks were soooooo bad you just couldnot putt .
Great course
This is a great course. I play here on a monthly basis and have never been let down!
Thank you for your kind words! It means a lot to our staff to know that locals understand our vision for the course and patiently wait for the grass to respond in a healthy manner. We look forward to seeing you next month!
Challenging course, difficult tee shots, great fairways, greens had lots of chunks in them. Probably best to play here in the summer.
It was an ok round. I think the weather ruined it for me. Super windy and cold.
The late winter-early Spring weather has been interesting this year. Please try Henderson again when the weather warms up and the course turns green. You will find it to be a new experience.
Goat Ranch
This course was in terrible condition. My husband said it was like playing on a Goat Ranch!
The staff at Henderson is saddened to read your comments regarding the course. We understand that Henderson, which GGP acquired a year ago, is in need of a lot of TLC, but the staff has been hard at work and has made remarkable changes to the course in the past 12 months. We always welcome constructive criticisms in order to make our guest experience better in the future. With that being said, we invite you to play Henderson when you are in town in the future to assess the continued improvements being made. It is our promise that you will not compare it to a goat ranch again! Thank you for your feedback.
course is a little overpriced
course is a little overpriced....I know it has new owners and it has gotten better but still has a long way to go. Some of the worst greens condition wise that I've seen. Only some bunkers have sand others are just empty.
Thank you for your feedback, we look forward to hearing what our guest's comments are so we may improve your playing experience in the future. GGP management took over Henderson a year ago and has been working hard to make the course a place of which to proud of again. The greens were very damaged and admittedly, need a lot of TLC. Our fantastic greens crew and Superintendent will have the greens looking 180 degrees different this spring and sand is being placed in bunkers as we speak. By the end of 2013 Henderson will be a different course and playing experience. We invite you to continue playing to see the dramatic improvements unfold.
Took WAY too long to play.
I played as a single behind 2 twosomes. In front of them was a 4 some. The foursome did not let anyone through until after #10 which left the two some in front of me and myself. There was nobody behind me. When the foursome was on # 13, there was probably nobody in front of them for at least 4 holes. Nobody from the clubhouse came out to check the pace of play at all.
The golf staff at Henderson apologizes for your unhappy playing experience. We do not wish any of our guests to feel forgotten while on course. It is not our policy to allow for unusually slow play and invite you to call the pro shop to inform the staff of concerns when a ranger is not on course. GGP's commitment to exceptional customer service is a cornerstone of our business and we take comments such as yours seriously. Thank you for your feedback!
Ok course.
I have played this course many times. It is still decent but not as good as it used to be.
Thank you for your comments. As you know, GGP is hard at work making Henderson look fantastic again. We look forward to seeing you on course and welcome your continued feedback.
Course steadily improving; good challenge
I heard that this course is under new management. It is evident that they are working hard to improve the course. It seems to get better every time I play it. They worked hard this past summer improving the greens. I wouldn't be suprised by the time they finish all their renovations, Henderson will be one of Savannah's better golf courses. As for the play, it is fairly challenging. Many of the greens are closely guarded by either bunkers or water. It will make you think hard about club selection. Overall good experience and I will continue to golf there.
Thank you for comments! It is always a pleasure to read that our guest's appreciate the work being done to the course. We look forward to seeing you on course!
Course was under water, but they allowed us to get off paths!!
This course needs maintenance pretty badly! It is not 3.8 Course. The assistant said the US government was not controlling the beavers and they were damming up the dainage off site, so the sourse wont drain properly. The layout is very nice and is ver y playable. The season is early, so it might not be too fair to rate the course under the conditions we played. I suspect it will be much better in early May. I would not play it again unless I checked the condition, but it was a very good value.
Since you posted a comment Monday, I am not sure if you are speaking about the weed application, that is almost teal in color, that has been applied to the greens. The pock marks are the areas left by the eradicated weeds. As soon as the weather warms up and the grass begins growing again the pock marks will fill in with healthy grass. It is slow process at times when weather controls a living organism. We hope that you visit us again later this spring to reassess the greens.
