Golfer Reviews
Needs work
I used to live in Savannah and played Southbridge many times back then. It was really disappointing to see how bad the greens were on just about every hole. Terrible damage a ton of sand. I was disappointed that I wasn’t told ahead of time about the greens and being charged full price for the round. I really hope they get it back in shape. It a nice course when maintained.
Greens under repair!!!!!
This course for me is unplayable right now. Unfortunately, I didn't check the courses website before booking on golfnow. The course has a disclaimer on their website that its under repair right now but $35 which was a hot deal was still a little too much to play here right now. 95% of the greens are not puttable. They have crews working to repair them but they are so far gone, dead, and diseased right now it may take a while to get back to even decent enough to play on. Avoid at all cost right now. Give them 6-12 months.
Greens
The greens were in pretty bad shape. I would have been pretty bummed if I had paid full price for that. Hopefully they get thru the drought and things pick up.
Greens are still in horrible shape, the drought is not helping still love the layout can’t wait for some rain to see how it helps
Southbridge Savannah Golf Club
Enjoyed playing with my buddy. A fair test from whatever tee box you drive from. The drought has caused greens to dry out but otherwise it’s really in great shape.
Not even worth playing anymore
This course used to be nice but has completely fallen off of a cliff. The greens have become so bad that it’s not worth playing here anymore. Very unfortunate for what used to be a great golf course. Hopefully they will be able to fix this. Prime golf season and there was almost nobody out there today and now I know why…
Great Savannah Course
This very dry weather has caused the greens to be a problem, but the rest of the course is in excellent shape. It is a beautiful and enjoyable course no matter the tees you play. Staff is wonderful and the food selections are superb.
Atrocious greens
Played at so8a couple of months ago and the greens were very bad. Thought they might have worked to make them better so went back yesterday. Big mistake, not only had they not made them better, they were worse.
good course, but bad greens
Southbridge is an awesome golf course, but the greens are not in very good shape. From the look of them, they need to close, stripe their green down to the dirt and start all over again. Out of 18 greens, not one was fully covered with grass.

Greens are under repairs and are the worst conditions I ever played
ABOMINATION OF THE GREENS
Let me just say this , the staff was excellent, the layout was actually nice , but the greens felt like they took grass killer ,
If you’ve ever wanted to practice putting on a combination of concrete, sand, and random grass patches, this is the place for you. The greens are beyond inconsistent — balls bounce, skid, and change direction for no reason. It also looks like they tried to “fix” dead areas with green spray paint, which pretty much sums up the level of care here. Not a serious golf experience, and have the audacity to charge u green fees .
Do NOT waste your time and money
If you’re thinking about booking a round here, do yourself a favor and don’t. This course is an absolute disappointment, and the greens are the worst part by far. Calling them “greens” feels generous—they’re patchy, uneven, and roll like a parking lot covered in gravel. You can hit what feels like a perfect putt, only to watch it bounce, skid, or veer off line for no reason. It completely ruins the experience.
Golf is supposed to reward precision, but there’s no point when the putting surfaces are this poorly maintained. It turns every hole into a frustrating guessing game instead of an enjoyable challenge. You spend more time shaking your head than actually enjoying your round.
For the price and time commitment, this place is a complete waste. There are far better courses out there that actually care about upkeep and player experience. Save your money, save your sanity, and play literally anywhere else.
The corse was nice but the greens need some love, patchy
Enjoyed our round
The greens on the course suffered greatly during the winter and we’re in rough shape. The staff at the pro shop informed us of this and showed us their plan to renew them. The course was in great shape otherwise and was very enjoyable to play.
Everything but the greens
This course has an excellent layout that is both fun and challenging, but the current conditions of the greens make it almost unplayable. The staff is amazing and some of the friendliest people I’ve encountered at golf courses. It’s clear that they are doing their best to improve the conditions, it’s just not there yet is all.
The worst greens ever
I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing what can only be described as a groundbreaking reinterpretation of what “greens” mean in golf. Traditionally, I thought greens were supposed to be smooth, consistent, and, you know… green. Clearly, this course is boldly challenging those outdated conventions.
Putting here is less of a skill and more of a spiritual journey. Each stroke is an exciting gamble between random bumps, mysterious grain shifts, and what I can only assume are geological formations dating back to the Jurassic period. Reading these greens doesn’t require a caddie it requires a licensed surveyor and possibly a seismologist.
Consistency is also refreshingly absent. No two putts roll alike, which really keeps you humble and constantly questioning your life choices. It’s nice to see a course so committed to ensuring no player ever feels confident, at any point, for any reason.
Maintenance-wise, I can only assume the grounds crew is pursuing a “let nature take the wheel” philosophy. The patches, discoloration, and textures add a level of visual and emotional complexity rarely seen outside abstract art.
All in all, if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to putt on a combination of gravel, sponge, and mild disappointment, this is your place. Truly unforgettable though not for the reasons one might hope.
