Southbridge Savannah Golf Club

I’ve played here several times. They have a driving range, putting green, chipping area ( kind of hidden). Everything easily accessible to include close range parking lot. Facility inside is well maintained with a small pro shop, bathrooms and a comfortable and great view of the course, dining in area. Staff all the way around is friendly. Course is very nice with both challenging and simple holes throughout. The overall course upkeep was in tact. The greens well kept, tee boxes for the most part were ok, fairways maintained as well. Minus the few cons I have written below, overall I’ve enjoyed myself each time I’ve okayed here, regardless of how well or bad I shoot. Would definitely recommend!

CONS

-There’s no ATM

-No sign that offers military discount, although they do offer it

-Cart paths are a wreck

-No course keeper to ensure tee off times are enforced

The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in ok condition, the cart paths suck! This could be a nice course if the owners would reinvest in the infrastructure and maintain it properly!

Plan another visit with friends soon! Course will be full five stars when work is finished!!!

Course should be closed down and completely redone. It was basically unplayable.

Nice layout. The greens have improved measurably since last winter and spring. Drainage problems persist in some areas of the course. Holes 4 and 6 were closed for the day during ongoing sand trap regeneration, but we just replayed 10 and 11. Cold beer!

Passing thru and thought we'd get a quick round in. The cost was great, the staff were attentive. Was told before we started the holes 4 & 6 were closed for maintenance but we could play 1 & 2 again if we wanted. They are definitely trying to update the course which it is in need. But we really did enjoy the round. Pace of pay was slow.

Drive cart paths with care if you value your back. Overall, enjoyed the round.

Golf shop had a sign saying holes 6 and 7 were closed for bunker repair, OK. But 2 grounds keepers were on the first par 3 on front 9. And on 8 the tee box was a mess and 2 other grounds crew were parked on side of fairway. 2holes closed ok but working on other stuff at the same time isn't customer friendly.

Upon arrival at the Pro Shop we were greeted with a sign at the front door that said " Holes 4 & 6 are closed due to bunker work". When we booked the tee time nowhere did it state the course had two holes completely closed. After expressing our dismay with the Pros Shop about not being informed they offered us a small bucket of balls as compensation( which we used). Upon exiting we also heard that the staff member was "probably" going to get in trouble for offering the free bucket. So after hitting balls off to the first tee we go... only to be told by some players making the turn that in fact everyone was starting on # 10 (again no one told us at Pro Shop...not a good a first experience).SO we turn around and scramble to # 10 to tee off...

When we finally made the turn on to #1 we were greeted with a small army of grounds crew in the fairway repairing, I believe a bunker. Being good souls we waited on the tee for some type of signal to show they saw us and we could tee off...what we got was someone yelling ""Are you going to hit the ball from mid field. Not the customer experience you would expect . Once we got past them we finished our round and went on our merry way. Interestingly as we played we couldn't understand why they were repairing bunkers and closing holes when the rest of the course needed a lot more attention. Like maybe spraying for Fire ants which abound around the greens...just my opinion., W e came... we played.. we won't be back..

Course was good shape overall. A little soft but we’ve had a lot of rain the past week or so. Like this course and it was not crowded at all.

Played here several times a couple of years ago. Conditions were poor so decided to not play here again.

Was told recently that new ownership had made positive changes so decided to give it another try. I'm glad we did.

Other reviewers have notedd that some bunkers are under repair and that the cart paths need replacing in quite a few places. While true, we still had a very good time playing this course.. The greens were in very good condition and the course layout is challenging but fair and fun to play.

Keep up the good work Southbridge and you'll have a first class operation soon.
