Not like it use to be!

Few years ago the course was one of the nicest courses in the area. But lately the past year two is one of the worst. The cart path is terrible. Better off finding you a better place to play. Crosswinds would be a much better choice. So sad such a nice course go to this condition.

Not in very good shape.

Great value but course is not in very good shape right now. Might get better as far as fairways and greens, but carts and cart paths are in need of serious work.

Good value

The value was great but the friendliness of the bar staff was lacking. Most of the bunkers are under repair or should be. The course layout was great and will definitely will be back to play again.

Great Layout

This course was quite challenging and the layout was very nice. Conditions were as usual at this time of the year. We would definitely go back.

Not what it used to be!

I am a native to the area for over 10 years. This course has continued to depreciate from the beginning. Played it just a few days ago. The course is not cared for and in very sad shape. It’s a shame that the course is not being cared for. Try Crosswinds much better value for your money.

Good course, good value

Played Southbridge many times. Good layout but it hadn't dried out after a recent rain. If they'd take care of all the bunkers and repair the cart paths it would be one of the best courses around.

Good design, needs upkeep

Played this course to get a round in before flying back home. The design is quite good here, but upkeep is lacking. Especially the cart paths, they were terrible. Staff was quite nice and the round went quickly. This could be a much better course with a bit more attention and investment.

Quieter Course close to downtown

Often overlooked by visitors to Savannah; but less than 20 min.from downtown and very affordable thru GolfNow.

Improving

Played Southbridge many times and the review is almost the same. Course was wet from last week's snow and some fairways should have been cart path only. Cart paths still atrocious.

Traps were better maintained throughout the course which is a complaint of mine at Southbridge. Only one trap was hardpacked sand that I could remember.

Will play again here with great rates for a good layout.

Great course

Always enjoy this course. Love the layout and never had any issues with pace of play. Today played in ~3 hours. Course is in great shape except for the cart paths are a little roughs in spots (believe they are working on these). Will definitely play here again and again.

Potential

It's a shame the owners don't realize what they've got...this course could be the best course in Savannah...but as the years go by its starting to deteriorate. It is 6900 from back tees but has several playable tees for all golfers. The layout is absolutely great...doglegs, elevations, long holes, short holes. Greens not bad. Fairways just ok. Rough and outer course areas not so good. Carts are terrible, cart paths getting very bad, heaving and cracking. Even in this avg condition I still recommend it

Love the layout

First of all I have played many courses in the area over the last four years since I originally moved to Savannah, but time and again the layout of this place just can't be beat. Not incredibly long at 6,900 yards, however, if you think you can play loose out here then you could be in a little trouble. I alway start with reviewing the greens as they are in my opinion the most important part of the golf course. While they are pretty slow at south bridge, they fairly true to line even nearing the end of the year like now. The majority of the tee boxes were in great shape. Course played firm and fast pretty much all day but you could certainly hold shots on the green. I will say the overall course conditions were a fair 3/5 but the layout of this place is just so much fun. Beautiful tall trees line the holes and there are obstacles to maneuver but if you play smart then you will be in for a more than enjoyable round of golf.

Slick greens

We played a four ball, I was the only one who had played the course before. We came from saint simons island ga. We had to get out of town as a friend was being thrown a surprise birthday party & we had to go missing for 10 hours. After we had booked the course we noticed a lot of bad reviews on golf advisor & a friend of mine was not looking forward to it, but we were all pleasantly surprised it was a lot better than the reviews. Fairways were nice & the greens true & pretty quick, wel'll be back.

Golf course going downhill

Looks like the new owners aren't spending any money on maintenance. Grass and weeds overgrown all over the course and around the clubhouse. Tree branches still down after the storms over two weeks ago. Concrete cart paths in terrible condition. Reese Jones must be rolling over in his grave.

Could be excellent.....

Played this course many times and I submit the same review. Great layout, rates and staff but traps and cart paths are atrocious.

Maintenance on the traps would go a long way to improve this course. I saw very few that were playable and the hurricane had nothing to do with it. The cart paths would be better if they were pulverized and not repaved.

Course is great otherwise. Make these changes and you'll have one of the best courses in the area.
