Southbridge Savannah Golf Club

Greens and tee boxes were rough. The rough was very long and hard to find and balls, let alone hit from the rough.

Beautiful course and unique layout. Makes you think about your club selection and whether to challenge the hazards. We enjoyed our round here!

Overall really enjoyed the round. Course was in good shape especially for end of summer in GA.

Only complaint was that my group lost several balls just outside the fairway because the rough was SO long you had to be literally standing on top of the golf ball just to see it! More than 10ft away and it’s buried in the fluffy stuff. Shortening it by 1/2” would make finding the balls outside the fairway much easier.

Dont get me wrong if you hit the fairway every time you’ll love it. But being penalized a stroke for a ball that was 3 yards or less out of the fairway just to keep up the pace of play is a little frustrating.

Course is in great shape. Just a few bare spots on the greens but they are healing nicely.

Only complaint is the cart paths. They need work.

I would put overall rating at 4.5 if that were a option.

This is the best course lay out in Savannah. You will enjoy.

It’s nice to see the grounds being restored by a competent person.

This course has the potential to be the premier course in the area for the price. You would have

to travel well into Hilton Head to find a course as interesting as Southbridge.

The staff is great and truly the friendliest in Savannah.

Played here about 6 weeks ago and the greens were in really poor condition. Poa Ana was taking over, many bare spaces on greens and dry as a rock. I could not believe the difference this time. Green have been aerated and sanded and watered in. Poa Ana is gone and grass is growing like crazy.. fairways were cut and in great shape. also, they have ice cold beer in the clubhouse.

The overall course condition was good except the greens were sparse and very slow. The golf cart pans were in poor condition and a few areas were dangerous at times.

Played this course year or two ago and it wasnt great, pretty beat up even before I got there lol. Didnt think I would come back but needed a quick tee time but wasn’t pleasantly surprised. Staff was awesome and course look real good. Glad I came back

I had the pleasure of playing this course about a week and a half ago and was blow away at how much better it looked than what I was expecting. Shot a great round, super fun coirse, very well maintained greens. Would highly recommend!!

I was reading the terrible reviews from Jun and early Jul with the greens of particular interest as being in bad shape. It made me not want to play but got intrigued by the layout and seeing it was a Rees Jones layout.

I played the course and my observations:

1. 16 of 18 greens were in pretty good shape. #8 was spotty but looked good in most spots. Speed was a little slow but smooth.

2. The maintenance team was extremely busy working on the course…in a manner that looked they took pride in their work.

3. Tees were mainly in good shape…mowed and grass everywhere in most spots.

4. Fairways were even and smooth!

5. The rough was being cut so hard to gauge condition but high in places.

6. Looks like invasive grasses around the collars and some fairways….looks like recently treated?

Overall the facility is great, staff was friendly and variety of food choices!

I plan to play again and looks like the course has improved significantly since Jun …something good is happening here! Play it and you will not be disappointed!

The course was not worth the fee they were charging. The course is not maintained well at all. The greens were extremely furry/tall, the greens had a ton of bald and unmanicured spots, the fairways were not cut or treated for weeds. The some of the bunkers were dirt and weeds, if not the prior they were extremely hard (lack of sand). If you are visiting as I was and you want to play a quality course, this is not the course. There two other courses in the area I would recommend (Savanah Harbor and Crosswinds). Anything else you would be waist your money. And you cant go wrong with venturing over to Hilton Head with it being right up the road. Hope this helps.
