The course is improving.
This is a nice course and you can see the improvement and that they are working on the course.
Something new is the plastic rings around the top of the holes. These do not seem to be set in correctly and they divert your ball away. They need to look into this.
But overall its a great course.
Improving
They are clearly putting some money behind improving this cour. A fair bit of ground work construction is going on.
The current condition of the course is ok, tee boxes need some work but fairways were great and greens were ok.
I would play here again.
nice course for the money
CCOG has improved a lot since my last play in the summer 2024. The management has done great job turning the course back in shape. The new GPS screen certainly helps avoid blind spot. I can tell they are working on the greens right now. Look forward play there next time.
Punched greens but did not let players know about it when booking and still charged full price. Also they messed up the aeration greens will probably be in a sorry state for a while. Save your money to somewhere else
Decent course
Greens were recently aerated so they were not in great shape.
Hopefully a revival in the making
The course had been let go for some time. They are working on the greens but there's a way to go.
There are numerous LARGE bare spots on the sides of the fairways especially on the back 9 par 5's.
It seems like the new group is serious about getting back in shape.
Not worth the price
Greens are in god awful shape…hence why they shouldn’t be charging normal prices when you have to play “Klinko” to putt…you literally have no control of your ball.
Tee boxes…..impossible to play.
Pace of play…unacceptable. The ranger/marshall kept telling us to speed up however, 1 of our carts died mid round. And the groups ahead of us were extremely slow yet he refused to address them
Will not be returning unless prices drop and course improves its maintenance.
5+ hour round / terrible greens
Course layout is awesome , staff and club house were great too ! But the course was literally dying . No grass on tee boxes , some fairways are nothing but mud from cart tracks , greens were some of the worst I’ve ever seen . I’ve played just about every public and private track in the Atl area . These were the worst greens I’ve seen thus far .
Aeration on greens and tee box help
They didn't advertise aeration and the tee boxes were of sand in most cases. Maybe return next year.
Greens? Freshly Punched
It was an absolutely beautiful Friday afternoon. Really no better way to start the weekend than to be hitting Golf balls on a gorgeous day. Overall, the course wasn't bad. The staff was friendly. The attendants were prompt and courteous, and the course is coming along. My major concern and complaint for this round is that the greens were freshly punched. If I had known this, I would have made a different choice of place to play. Also, the course could have discounted the rate since the greens were freshly aerated. I could not get a putt to stay online all day.
This alone,ruined it for me.
Aerated Greens 05/22/25
This course aerated their greens last week and has not made any mention of that on GN or when paying for the tee time... literally playing on sand on most holes... avoid this course for at least another month.
Enjoyable
Played mid-day Tuesday so just cruised around in 3.5 hours. Greens were smooth and fast to putt on, but did show some imperfections from when the irrigation system was shut down to repair the lake. The dam has been repaired and the lake is almost full again. #16 is defended by wetlands, but after a few more rains the water will be up there, too. Heard that there was new ownership as of 2025 that was committed to more upgrades.
Wouldn’t Recommend Rough Shape
Staff was nice but MAKE SURE YOU BOOK ON GOLFNOW. If you call and book you will pay $25 more. When you ask why there is a price difference…”upper management” decision.
Fairways were dead, shaggy, and rocky.
Pace of play was slow 6 HR round on a Saturday afternoon.
Greens were bumpy, and very fuzzy in spots.
I would look for something better in the area
Play your local muni, don’t bother
I’m no golf expert by any means and I’m not exactly picky about my golf courses… I’m too bad to be picky. But this place is exceptionally bad. The greens have weeds and sand and there are multiple large craters in the fairways where it looks like they just kinda gave up on bunkers. The tee boxes are also the equivalent of if you put a tee down in the sand on the beach and hit off. Honestly an awful course but I still had some fun. The reason for my review though is that for what this course is, it’s a complete rip off. I paid 70 bucks on GolfNow to book a tee time for two just to find out that I also had to pay 70 bucks when I got there. I’ve been using the app for years and have never had that happen. If the course was decent at all I prolly wouldn’t mind that but this course was so bad it seemed disingenuous. On top of feeling duped for the actual round I also had to pay 10 bucks to hit like 40 balls on their “range”. Their range is not a range. Impossible to dial in yardage at their range and if you play it you’ll see why. Lastly I’m not really a review guy but the dude who worked at the pro shop was kind of rude so that was just the last straw. Again, I had fun… but realistically this round should have costed 35 bucks a person at most… which is what I thought I was paying.
Need some work
Tee box and lots fairway no glass need work, the day 4 some front us too slow otherwise very nice course with reasonable price just need some work
Château Élan Stay & Play Golf Package
You do realize the greens had just been aerated, correct?
