Stone Mountain Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf that are a part of Stone Mountain Park, which is one of the Southeast's most popular attractions. The Lakemont Course winds around the beautiful Stone Mountain Lake through forests of Georgia pines and hardwoods. John LaFoy, a native of the state, designed the golf course. He incorporated his signature mounding and dramatic bunkering, which is enhanced even further by the wildly undulating terrain. The lake is more prominent on the front nine where water comes into play on six holes. The back nine still features water on four holes, but there are more rocky outcroppings, providing different but equally stunning scenery. Stunning mountain views can be enjoyed from every hole and golfers will also be able to glimpse the famous Confederate memorial carving featuring Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Stonewall Jackson.

Bad greens , slow play

The greens were terrible and it took five hours and 50 minutes to play 18 holes. Will not return

Not worth the money

The course was in terrible shape and therefore it was cart path only. It’d be nice if that was advertised in some way. You’ll definitely get your steps in hiking up some of the hills at each hole. Also since it was cart path only, people were playing slower which management needs to consider and times need to be staggered better. Where is your Marshall moving people along? We only saw the beverage cart one time in four hours too. I would recommend you gold somewhere else!

Won't play again

Allowing for it being winter conditions, the course was poorly maintained and the greens were in bad shape. At $76.00/player, I was expecting a better kept track.

With that said, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The course lay-out was very good and the views were wonderful.

Expensive and poor after management change

Used to be an awesome course, however, after the management change, the course quality has deteriorated significantly. Water puddles, uneven greens etc - better management is needed.

Great Layout on Lakemont

The views are amazing with a great layout. Super friendly staff especially the starter Montana. Bent grass greens were a little rough. This course will always be on my must play list.

Packed. Terrible greens. Expensive.

Greens are in horrible shape on the whole. Not worth $88

A hotdog is $6.

Go further out of Atlanta and find a better course that isn’t a slow round that’s overly expensive, crowded and in really poor shape.

Tight and Challenging

This is a great course with some beautiful holes. That being said, it is the off season so conditions aren’t perfect. Was informed they are planning to switch the rest of the Bent Greens to Zoysia later this year which will make this course far more user friendly. Currently there is a constant back and forth between the two types of grass which are at vastly different speed’s making it very difficult to get a rhythm on the greens.

Didn't Live Up to the Price Point

I was disappointed in the course conditions given the cost of a round. Multiple tee boxes were rock-hard and would not accept a tee. Several greens had extensive damage at both the edges and through the middle. Bunkers were unplayable, having not been tended to since the last rainfall which was, I believe, about a week ago. The sand was hard packed and lined with runoff gullies around the edges (yeah, I know, don't hit into 'em).

Even with the GolfNow discount it was still a $70 round. I would guess the course is suffering personnel issues like so many business these days. Maybe that has something to do with current conditions. I know this course plays much better in the spring/summer but I likely won't be back for winter rounds anytime soon.

Nice with beautiful day

We had a very pleasant round. Perfect weather and our pace improved after we played through a group. Greens were tough rolling fast and tough pin placements.

Not worth the money

Course was in rough shape. Bunkers were a mess, unraked, full of pinestraw and leaves. Greens were poor, some seemed nice and green and some were browned out. Some tee boxes had little grass. Shame to see a state park that is tax funded as well as high fees in such poor shape.

Lakemont

The Lakemont course is a blast and gorgeous. Greens need a bit of work but most of the issues are because players don't repair ball marks. Greens look rough but roll well. The location is unbeatable. Great morning!
