Stone Mountain Golf Club sits at the base of one of the Southeast's most popular attractions, Stone Mountain. The club offers two 18-hole courses, Lakemont and Stonemont. The Stonemont Course is the club's original layout, designed by Robert Trent Jones. The gentle hills surrounding the mountain provide the golf course with rolling fairways and greens. The contours are subtle, but they can be deceiving. The classic but tricky layout requires careful strategy and course management in addition to accuracy. The course is routed around the mountain and its accompanying lake, weaving through dense forests of Georgia pine. The layout features narrow fairways, but one of the most challenging features are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout. Since opening in 1969, Stone Mountain's Stonemont Course has hosted numerous events, both local and national.

Not worth it

For the cost of greens fees and parking, this course is absolutely not worth it. Half of the greens had huge spots of sand on them, the tee boxes were in awful shape, and the pace of play was incredibly slow with no Marshall. Would not recommend to anyone.

Hidden Fees!!

When you enter the Stone Mountain main entrance, you have to pay $20 parking for the day. Freaking ridiculous! That should have been mentioned when booking the tee time.

Steve

Where did my old beloved Stone Mountain course go? The Stonemont track used to be one of the best courses in the area, good value and always in perfect condition. Unfortunately neither is the case anymore! Further insult, you still have to pay the $20 entrance fee to get into the park, On top of the $50 you're paying to play golf. Never coming back!

Not What I’m Used to at Stone Mtn

I usually so enjoy playing a round here, lighting a cigar, and drinking a cold beer. Not March 3.

1. Soggy conditions put a damper on enjoyment...plus sanded greens that weren’t predictable

2. Cigar was good

3. No beer. Cart girl wasn’t going around. I drove cart to clubhouse to buy beer after the front nine.

Nope. Locked tight

Disappointing round

Stonemont

It seems like they have raised the prices, without improving anything. In fact, the tee boxes were in bad shape. For some, it was hard to find grass. And the greens were not much better. Some of them had "sand traps" on the green - repair areas with a significant amount of sand. Rather disappointing for a place I usually like to play.

When putting the starter told us that the ball will roll towards the mountain on some of the holes after I got the hang of the roll towards the mountain the putting improved.

Good test of golf

Played the stonemont course, great layout and a great test of golf. Hit every club in the bag during the round, very enjoyable, definitely want to play again in the spring/summer

Golfers Atmosphere

First time on either course. Played Stonemont earlier in the afternoon on one of these cooler days. I'd say Stone Mtn is for more experienced players as the layout was difficult for an inconsistent player like myself. The greens were definitely a work in progress but never seemed to get in the way. I can't remember having to putt through a dirt patch but they were prevelant. The course was unforgiving for anything but accuracy off the tees however I only managed to loose 2 balls over 18. I definitely had a great experience especially for the price. I'd be a lil irritated at anything over $50 due to the green condition. Other than that and some spots that received some recent heavy rain, the course was great. This course provides a true golfers experience.
