Stone Mountain Golf Club sits at the base of one of the Southeast's most popular attractions, Stone Mountain. The club offers two 18-hole courses, Lakemont and Stonemont. The Stonemont Course is the club's original layout, designed by Robert Trent Jones. The gentle hills surrounding the mountain provide the golf course with rolling fairways and greens. The contours are subtle, but they can be deceiving. The classic but tricky layout requires careful strategy and course management in addition to accuracy. The course is routed around the mountain and its accompanying lake, weaving through dense forests of Georgia pine. The layout features narrow fairways, but one of the most challenging features are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout. Since opening in 1969, Stone Mountain's Stonemont Course has hosted numerous events, both local and national.

Fun round

I felt fairways were quite fair not too narrow, gave you some room. Beautiful setting and layout, greens we're consistent and good speed. Overall very good experience and will play it again.

first impressions

It was fine. As i entered the park i was charged $20 just to enter the park to get to the golf course. I know the park needs money but I feel that charge to someone who is already going to spend more money than the ordinary visitor is over the top. Places like Lake Lanier don't do that.

Good time on Stonemount. Course was in excellent shape except for the bunkers but they did have an inch of rain the night before. Not the fault of the course The staff in the pro shop helped me out when I broke my pitching wedge on the practice tee before the round. Good deal and a new pitching wedge. See the friendly drink cart lady 5 times during the round. Very few geese on Stonemount.

Over all good course

You have to pay 20 to get into the park. So whatever you pay know you will have to pay 20 more. Very good course and views.

Tough and Beautiful Course

Greens were tough to read and had some good slope to them. Course was in good shape and played fair. Loved the views and the nature on the course. Would recommend the course. Heads up - $20 entry fee to get into Stone Mountain Park itself. Would recommend the annual pass if you live in the area. It’s only $40 so two rounds of golf or an added trip to hike the mountain makes it worthwhile.

Birdies and bourbon podcast

Played Lakemont last week and Stonemont is in much better shape. Greens and fairways were good. Overall the layout at Stonemont is just better, but more demanding, than Lakemont. I’ll play the Stone before the Lake anytime. Also, if you are thinking of getting out, joes the time with all the recent rain as course is playing long but fair. Cheers

Stonemont in good spring shape

Overall a great experience. First time playing the course. Overall quite pleased. Only negative is on top of the tee time fee, they make you pay $20 per car to enter the park. They should suspend this for golfers playing the course. Due to social distancing; we all arrived in separate cars. We don’t make that $60 mistake again. Kudos to the staff. Everything about the golf was great.

Slightly Disappointing Playing Surface

I'm willing to give them some slack because of possible understaffing or overwhelming use due to Covid, but there's a few tee boxes and putting greens that are looking pretty rough, if not bereft of grass. Was hoping for more pristine surfaces for the amount of money paid for the course, especially when I chose this course for my birthday round.
