Stonemont at Stone Mountain Golf Course
About
Stone Mountain Golf Club sits at the base of one of the Southeast's most popular attractions, Stone Mountain. The club offers two 18-hole courses, Lakemont and Stonemont. The Stonemont Course is the club's original layout, designed by Robert Trent Jones. The gentle hills surrounding the mountain provide the golf course with rolling fairways and greens. The contours are subtle, but they can be deceiving. The classic but tricky layout requires careful strategy and course management in addition to accuracy. The course is routed around the mountain and its accompanying lake, weaving through dense forests of Georgia pine. The layout features narrow fairways, but one of the most challenging features are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout. Since opening in 1969, Stone Mountain's Stonemont Course has hosted numerous events, both local and national.

A must play!!!!!!!!!!
Everything about this course is first rate, from the staff to the picturesque views of Stone Mountain and the lakes!!!!!! This place keeps me coming back over and over!!!!!!!
Nice Property
Really enjoyed this course, it was in good condition given the poor recent weather. Interesting layout with dog legs going both ways.
masters week
Very Scenic Course in a Great location. But the Conditions were brutal. rate the Greens at a 5. Some tee boxes were dead. Fairways were brutal. Played the Bears Best the day before and the conditions were so good that we played a back to back round there. Having said that, I don't see a weather excuse for this course being in such bad shape.
Still in winter shape.
Was soggy and greens not in the best shape. In a month with be much better.
Terrible shape - Terrible value
The course was in terrible shape. Fairways were soggy and a complete pain to play off of. The greens were some of the worst greens I have ever played on. Diseased and bumpy.. extremely inconsistent. This is most definitely not worth the $45 cost. I would MAYBE pay $20 to play here. I hope they are planning on renovating the greens ASAP. I understand it is just now warming up but I have played 4 other courses this year that cost the same or less than this in the past month that are 10x nicer. A beer off the cart was $6! This is not a Braves game! After paying to get in the park, paying $45 to play a terrible course, that was icing on the cake.
Staff was very friendly as normal. That's about the only good thing I have to say.
Pretty Good, lots of hackers
Looking forward to seeing this course in better condition once the grass starts to green again. It was pretty crowded and saw a lot of golfers hitting from the wrong fairway. Overall I like it and will be playing there again.
Practice facilities are very good but no putting green when you get to the starter. You have to putt first at the clubhouse, and then go over to the range and chipping green.
Pretty solid course, little pricey
Good course but greens could use some work and the cost was a little higher than I believe it should be.
Still not sure about Stone Mountain
I've played the course for 5 years now. The past 12 months is the worst shape I've seen it in. Lakemont is closed as they have been doing work on it, which I applaud. The greens on Stonemont, which used to be very true and fast and are a little bumpy. It's a good course, where you have to drive the ball well, but it's not as pristine as it once was. I hope the spring and summer see this course return to a better shape.
Great course with unique features
Challenging layout that is playable for all levels of players. Jumps right into it on number one. Greens were in a bit of distress (spiked up) mostly due to a tournament played earlier. Beautiful views of Stone Mountain on numerous holes.
Great value.
Everyone friendly. There are 2 courses and it was a bit confusing to find the first hole. The course was wide open and in excellent condition.
The Marriott guys know what they are doing
Course is in a wonderful condition. Great service from the bag drop and all the way to the bev cart. Course is in a great condition. Will play again.
Great Course!!
For the $25.99 per golfer tee time price this course was great! The course was really wet but most are after all the rain but other than that the course was a blast to play and in really good condition. Must play!!!
The course fairways were in GREAT shape (just mushy from all the rain).
The Stonemont course was in awesome shape. The greens were aerated, but the overall course was fine. The staff was very accommodating.
Challenging Trent Jones Design demands your best game.
You can easily be rewarded or penalized by your shot selection on this course. Play it forward and enjoy! Play it back and every hazard comes into play. Course fairways soggy right now but when it dries out should be in pristine condition.
Course has very little character.
The front 9 is pretty much up & back split by trees. The back 9 added some character with elevated tee boxes & some water that comes into play. The greens require quite a bit of attention as they are quite beat up! Overall compared to other RTJ courses I was a little let down.
Scenic course.. greens could use some attention
Very scenic course that winds its way around Stone Mountain. Lots of wildlife and things to look at. They get a lot of play so the tee boxes were pretty beat up and a lot of divots in the fairway. The greens were in really bad shape (although this is not a unique occurrence this summer around Atlanta with all the rain). I used to pay twice as much to play here (i believe when the Marriott managed it) so the value has gotten better - but it has certainly opened it up to a lot more play and slower rounds.
Course needs attention.
The greens need serious attention. The course other than the greens are maintained. We were nearly pounding the ball on the greens to get it to roll. Birdies are few and far.
Nice Course
Played Stonemont and the course was in pretty decent shape. The greens rolled true and the fairways were in good shape. The ranger was out and checking in on groups. I played on a threatening weather day so the course was not crowded. Some holes are tight and others are open. Not too hard in my mind, but made you think about some shots. 9th hole is a circus hole but all other holes played well.
