Stone Mountain Golf Club sits at the base of one of the Southeast's most popular attractions, Stone Mountain. The club offers two 18-hole courses, Lakemont and Stonemont. The Stonemont Course is the club's original layout, designed by Robert Trent Jones. The gentle hills surrounding the mountain provide the golf course with rolling fairways and greens. The contours are subtle, but they can be deceiving. The classic but tricky layout requires careful strategy and course management in addition to accuracy. The course is routed around the mountain and its accompanying lake, weaving through dense forests of Georgia pine. The layout features narrow fairways, but one of the most challenging features are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout. Since opening in 1969, Stone Mountain's Stonemont Course has hosted numerous events, both local and national.

Stonemont

A few bare spots on a couple of greens. Have not played here in 10 + years. Nice round of golf, a bit overpriced but that's everything now unfortunately

Classic Robert Trent Jones

Play a classic Robert Trent Jones design with one of the top first holes in Georgia. Length, trees, and slanting fairways make this a challenging course. Course is in good condition.

Good Course. Needs some upkeep

I thought the course was in decent shape and well worth the money for the twilight price. I probably wouldn’t spend the money to play this course during peak times when it is more expensive. Someone needs to do something about people not fixing their ball marks on greens. Most of the greens (like 14 out of 18) are in pretty decent shape but there are unfixed ball marks all over every green. Other than that, really can’t complain and I’ll definitely be playing here in the future during the twilight hours.

Beverage Cart - No Liquor

Great Course, Stonemont is the better course for golf than Lakemont.

Solid layout, decent pace of play, the only issue was the beverage cart did not have any liquor. Previously, we were told that during 2021 and 2022 the beverage carts had liquor for the course; however, this changed and we could only purchase beer. It would be great to have liquor on the beverage cart after chunking an 8i after a great drive into an easy par 4.

Beautiful layout

Course plays long and undulated with not much room for error! Great layout and fun to play! Greens are mediocre at best with some mini sand traps on them (lol) ! Course in better shape than last year! Hope they keep working to make the condition great being a State Park with beautiful scenery!

Average

The layout of the course was above average with scenic views of stone mtn that added to the enjoyment of the game. The staff were welcoming and accommodating, which contributed to a positive atmosphere throughout the day. The condition of the greens were well below average, which detracted from the overall experience and the price for poorly maintained the course felt was a bit much and that was on top of the $20 to park at stone mtn. Unlikely to play this course again.

Mountain of fun

Both courses at Stone Mountain are excellent and not crowded during the week. You will have to buy a daily parking pass (currently $20) or an annual pass (currently $40) so be sure to budget for that. I recommend the annual pass if you are local as there are multiple attractions at this park.

Poor course condition

The course was not in good condition- not even close. The greens were slow and very bumpy. Granted it’s April and the course was wet, but it looked as if not one maintenance guy had touched the entire course in a long time.

Let people know when the greens are sanded and punched.

A few friends and i booked a tee time here without any knowledge of the condition of the greens. They were sanded and punched. Nothing on the website said that. Range was closed. Can’t blame the course for winter conditions and rain but it drains terribly. The layout is just not fun. Made for a rough day of golf. I see why nobody was out there. On the bright side, the staff was very friendly. The other course is usually in better shape. Probably won’t be coming back to this side any time soon.

Beautiful place to play but it is winter

Played on perfect 68 F day at Stonemont

Course was a bit rough but given it was freezing a few weeks ago.. Can not be too critical but many divots on faiways

A feature of the course is the number of creek beds very close to fairways on the front nine..

Adds to difficulty.. The creek bed on 5th was literally 12 feet from the left edge of fairway which slopes left to right.

I had never been to stone mountain but the lake is gorgeous and will be back
