Stone Mountain Golf Club sits at the base of one of the Southeast's most popular attractions, Stone Mountain. The club offers two 18-hole courses, Lakemont and Stonemont. The Stonemont Course is the club's original layout, designed by Robert Trent Jones. The gentle hills surrounding the mountain provide the golf course with rolling fairways and greens. The contours are subtle, but they can be deceiving. The classic but tricky layout requires careful strategy and course management in addition to accuracy. The course is routed around the mountain and its accompanying lake, weaving through dense forests of Georgia pine. The layout features narrow fairways, but one of the most challenging features are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout. Since opening in 1969, Stone Mountain's Stonemont Course has hosted numerous events, both local and national.

Unplayable conditions

I played about 80 rounds a year. I was in Atlanta for the masters, and I always wanted to play this course because of its architect. I was at the masters for my birthday a gift from my son and we played the Stone Mountain. I should’ve read better through the reviews. This course was bought out last year and it is in terrible shape. I’m not nit picking the fairways and tees terrible. The greens had patches of sand on them where they were repairing I spoke to the Director of Golf , and he was a very nice man and explained they were going through some changes.

Nearing perfection

Terrific landscape architecture, fairway grass emerging and softening, greens large and tough to read but in good shape.

Friendly staff and very helpful

The course layout is great. The staffs were amazing.. sadly just the cost condition needs LTC, some tee area really rough... Green is a bit bumpy and different speeds... Overall. Could be better... I wouldn't rush back. Especially you have to pay extra $20 for get in the mountains area before the course

Greens were in terrible condition, fairways dry and hardly any grass. For $115 a round our party was very disappointed after traveling from MN, WI and OK to play. Course living off its history.

Can’t beat it for the price

Week day round and it went great. Got paired with two gentleman and they were all good vibes. Starter gave great tips to start the round. Was blunt and honest on the pace of play. But we played 18 in 4 hours. Cart girl was out and serving. For the price I’ll be returning soon.

Not worth the money

I have played the Stonemont course several times in the past, i was very disappointed in the conditions of the course. The greens are in bad shape and not worth the $79 plus $20 to enter the park.

Terribly Slow

I played behind a 5 ball and a 6 ball so was extremely slow. Not sure why the course allows groups of more than 4 to play together. After almost 3 hours for the nine holes, I decided end my round early.

Great value, good challenge, will play again

The conditions were fine considering the time of year and amount of rain and cold weather. Worth every penny of the GN pre-paid rate! Great pro shop beautiful surroundings. Greens were pretty slow but consistent. EVERYTHING BREAKS TOWARDS THE MOUNTIAN! They tell you that when you start and they are not kidding!

Avoid Stone Mountain

Find another course. Stone Mountain is in terrible conditions and they have raised prices. Can't use the range because the whole SCAD team is there at 11 on a Sunday. If you like waiting 10 minutes for every shot, this course might be for you. Greens are covered in fungus that has killed half of the greens. Bunkers are destroyed and clearly have not been maintained for some time. No water on the course and the beverage cart came by for the first time on the 18th hole after we said that we were dying at the turn. Group in front of us missed their tee time and the starter just put them in front of us instead of making them join their group on the 2nd tee.

Bad Bad Shape

The last few months have not been kind to this course. Possibly the worst greens in the Metro Atlanta area. I suggest playing literally anywhere else
