Stone Mountain Golf Club sits at the base of one of the Southeast's most popular attractions, Stone Mountain. The club offers two 18-hole courses, Lakemont and Stonemont. The Stonemont Course is the club's original layout, designed by Robert Trent Jones. The gentle hills surrounding the mountain provide the golf course with rolling fairways and greens. The contours are subtle, but they can be deceiving. The classic but tricky layout requires careful strategy and course management in addition to accuracy. The course is routed around the mountain and its accompanying lake, weaving through dense forests of Georgia pine. The layout features narrow fairways, but one of the most challenging features are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout. Since opening in 1969, Stone Mountain's Stonemont Course has hosted numerous events, both local and national.

Clark practice round

Turned out to be a great day of golf, at the start of the round there was a slight drizzle, but by hole 2, the weather cleared and we had a great time. No groups ahead or behind us allowed for a great pace of play. Course was in great shape for late fall and greens were sneaky fast. Will definitely return to play again. Only downfall is the $20 park entrance fee on top of the green fees.

Not worth the money

The park itself is beautiful but as far as the golf course goes much less to be said. Greens in horrible conditions. Fairways were okay. The staff was very helpful and only a few holes have nice scenery. For the price, I would go elsewhere instead if you really want good golf.

K Smitb

Really enjoyed this course. If you’re not terribly straight off the tee you can make up for it with your second shot. Greens are a little small to hit but overall great balance between challenging and fun. If you hit it straight you’ll have a ball out here. Course very well maintained.

Decent course for the money

My son and I had a great day out. Decent course in Parkland setting. Not too much water bet some fairways are a little tight and have significant side slope.

CPO on hole #1 & 9 was annoying as the fairway sloped significantly from deft to right but the cart path was on the left requiring significant walking

Green conditions were inconsistent - some in great shape but others had significant bare patches which increased the speed significantly. Quite a lot of un-repaired ball marks on the greens too

Paid $60-70 using an App which was reasonable but I wouldn’t pay the list price

Be aware there is an additional $20 to enter Stone Mountain Park which is not waived for golfers

never disappoints

i have played this course a few times over the past 30 years and it never disappoints. i've played in a few charitable tournaments and a few times just regular play. The course is always difficult, beautiful scenery and backdrop, friendly and worthy of the price.

GREENS

The Greens on the back 9 are horrible. Very dry and patchy with sand piles. Spend the extra money and play Lakemonte because even with the discounted rate I still paid to much. The course is laid out nicely and plays very long.

Decent Track But Overpriced

Overall a good course but not worth the $100 they ask for tee times. You also have to pay a $20 park entry fee. Some of the greens had some bald spots on them.

Slowest Round

Nice course but no marshals out there which makes for unbearable slow round. Lots of hackers on the course with no golf etiquette. Marshalls could resolve that.

Expensive -- not worth value

Course was in good condition, greens were very nice. But paying over $100/round is not worth it at this course. Plenty of great golf courses in/around Atlanta that are in the $60-$80 range that I would play instead. Slow pace of play on weekends too, easily a 4.5hr+ round

Can’t beat the views

Blown away by the scenery of this course. It’s was pricey and maybe not in the most immaculate condition for the price but wouldn’t change the trip ! Pace of play was super great for a busy Saturday

Not worth $100 and $20 parking

Greens and fairways are in very poor condition . Most of the greens are very poor , thin grass or just plain sand on the green . I’m not sure what’s happened cause I’ve played this course in the past and it’s sad to see it’s gotten so bad . Staff is great but playing conditions are at all time low .
