No Smoke Rising
The course was in serious need of major golf course maintenance. Bunkers were in disrepair. Grass need cutting.

Dirt greens covered in 1/2 inch of sand

Ridiculous layout
If you’ve never played smokerise you’re in for a rude awakening. The greens are in pretty good shape, but the course overall could use a little tlc. The biggest issue is the bizarre layout, that makes absolutely no sense. Just about every hole is a blind shot, dogleg left or right, massive uphill or downhill, etc... just weird. It’s in a convenient location for metro players, but with the layout it’s hard to come back.

Not worth $50
12 of the 18 greens are in terrible conditions. To make things worse they put the hole in the messed up areas. Need to fix the cart paths as well. The new carts are nice.

If you like hilly course with blind shots this is your course!
First time playing the course and it will be the last. Every shot was an uphill or a downhill. Numerous blind shots. The bunkers are under repair and playable. The best part of the course is the greens.

Course Requires Experience
The staff, especially the starter Marshall, was very friendly and helpful. This is a challenging course that requires you to hit iron off nearly every tee, and the par 5s are impossible to reach in two, which is just not my favorite style of play. The course was in decent condition apart from the bunkers, which could use some maintenance. Overall a good time if you enjoy target golf, but would be easier playing with someone who knows the course well.

You will use every club in your bag! Best value considering price/location
For the money this is the place to go. Some of the tee boxes need some love but these guys really get it right where it's important - the greens are par for a course that is 2x the price. Only gripe is hole #6 560yd, dogleg right, par 5. It's a 3 shot hole no matter how far you crush your drive. Also, the fairway has such a camber that anything left of the right treeline is gone. You've been warned. Only other tip is to try'n keep the big numbers out off the tee and you should shoot pretty well - because you are going to make some putts on those (relatively quick but predictable) greens. Have fun!

What happened?
I played this course 3 years ago. Fairways were green and immaculate. Rough was kempt and manageable. Now, good drives end up lost, stuck in mud, or on dirt. Poor fairway conditions and blind drives result in lost balls unfairly. It does not appear that they are doing anything more than just cutting the grass. Really disappointed at how they have let this course go.

Maintenance has wained
First time playing the course in 3 years. They have let it go a bit. Greens were decent. However, remainder of course leaves a lot to be desired. The carts are awesome though.

Average course in the Tucker/Stone Mtn area
I have played this course 4 times prior and unfortunately the course conditions keep getting worse. There are some bare spots in some fairways and practically none of the bunkers had any sand. It may be they are replacing the sand, who knows. This is a course where you have to place your tee shot well in order to score. The fairways are also narrow. The cart girls, marshall and pro shop staff were very friendly. I enjoy getting HotDeals occasionally as it is 20 minutes from my home but due to the challenging layout and poor maintenance I would not join as a member.

Great Course
It was my first time playing Smoke Rise and I thought it was a challenging course. The fairways were in great shape. The greens were very fast, however a few were in rough shape as well as most of the sand traps.. All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The carts are new and were all in great conditions. Definitely would recommend Smoke Rise.
