Smoke Rise Country Club

When I first walked in to the golf club/country club I was greeted by a friendly employee who showed me how to get to to the golf shop for check-in on the basement level. The staff at golf shop were friendly.

The layout of the course was explained by the gentleman that greeted us at the entrance of the country club.

There were no problems with the carts and one of the carts had brake lights and headlights.

The course was in good condition considering the time of year and the cold weather. Because it was cold there were only a few groups out, so there was no problem with the pace of play and we were not rushed.

The course is one of the most hilly courses, I have played in the Atlanta metro area.

We played this course on 11/14/2020. The weather was beautiful, but I have never experienced such failure in course management. This course was once a nice round of golf, but something terrible has happened. The bunkers were poorly maintained. Carts peppered the course as if there was no thought to charge them overnight. Both carts in our group failed to make it through nine holes. A replacement cart also failed five holes later. We were forced to walk to the clubhouse despite having a disabled veteran in the group. After the round, nobody could be found anywhere in the clubhouse, nor cart barn. Stay away until they figure it out.

I have no problem with the course itself -- it's good, although the bunkers were a mess. The problem was with its management. First, they make you pay $20 if you want a separate cart, which is a huge problem for players who don't want to catch COVID from their playing partner. Before the round, about 5 guys waited a full 30 minutes in the clubhouse for help, and not a soul was there and no one could be found! This delayed our round and was a huge problem since it was a late day start and daylight is short. But worst was the cart situation. They literally tell you that the carts are all running out of juice so go switch after 9 holes, but after 9 holes there are still no charged carts! On the back nine there were at least 20 abandoned carts all over the course, people lugging clubs. I don't understand how a nice course could have such a terrible problem. It was a joke, and they need new management.

IDK what has changed with management over the last few years. It’s unfortunate, every time I play this course it continues to get worse. The playing condition of the course is not all that bad. Couple years ago it was in great shape! It’s holding on, for the lack of attention it’s getting. I played 15+ times at this course alone a couple summers ago. Now... The service is terrible. The guys at the cart barn are very friendly and tried to do what they could, but their experience in the club house/golf operations overall is awful. I won’t go into too much detail, but from what we could gather today they had forgotten to charge the carts the night before. We saw 7+ carts people had left behind because they had died on the front nine alone. They had us tee off so late we couldn’t even get our round in. There’s so much more, needless to say, not one friendly conversation (outside of the gentleman at the cart barn), they never apologized, they didn’t care and weren’t in the mood to help anyone out. They were more concerned about getting their dead carts back to the club house before dark, than the stranded patrons all over the course left to walk. (Some I saw walking back were not in the shape to be doing it either!) Rant over. Stay away until they have new management or get it together. It’s not worth your money or your time, puts a damper on the whole golf experience. Plenty of other choices on the area, try those first!

No water in the on-cart club washer, no sand in sand tubes in the cart, no tees in the cart, no parking brake on the cart, two bald tires on the cart. Very friendly staff, course in reasonable condition considering limited financial resources. We did have one employee on the power sand rake parked in a bunker with his back to us, playing on his phone with earbuds in. No amount of yelling or waving would get his attention, so I had to hit my approach shot directly over his head, literally 10 feet past him. Not the only groundskeeper that regularly parks their equipment to play on their phone, just wish they would do it away from the greens.

Horrible Experience, two carts died during the round forcing us to leave the 2nd cart stranded on the course and walk in. Slow pace of play, course not maintained. Nobody answering phones or at clubhouse making the turn at 6:30 PM.

Overall course was solid for 25 minutes from buckhead. Bunkers need sand so just try to stay out of them ;) fairways and greens were great. Tee boxes we 8/10.

Challenging course, greens it good shape. I booked a 4some and only 3 could play. I wish that the price I paid for 4 could be refunded 1 tee time. Anyone?
