About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Poor Sportsmanship/Dangerous Conditions
If you play at Sugar Hill, BEWARE! The group behind us shot at the green BEFORE we cleared it and seriously injured one in our foursome. We were unable to finish our round. The offending golfer did not yell "FORE" or give us any warning when he shot at the green. He did not have the decency to approach us and acknowledge his poor judgement or check on the welfare of the injured golfer in our group until confronted. He finally drove his cart to us and joked about his skills in a weak attempt to apologize. Have never seen such poor etiquette and disregard for golfer safety! Will not play this course ever again!

Great value for money
With so many courses charging as much as they do, Sugar Hill is great value for money. Is the course the best you’ll play at, no, but considering what others charge, it’s definitely worth the rates. The range could use some upgrades for sure but overall their greens & fairways are well kept.
I drive past some other courses to keep coming back to Sugar Hill.

Lots of Hills
Fun course, nice greens for being late November. The course is very hilly, hard to get a flat lie on approach shots and no fun climbing up and down. Tons of blind shots too. Fun course overall.

I give up
I've played this course many times and it never fails that the staff acts like you are not a paying customer and you should be happy to be there. It's a decent track but they act like it's Augusta National. And how about letting the customers who booked in advance know that there will be a frost delay instead of them showing up (40 degrees at start time) and being told there will be a 2 hour delay. And the guy thought it was pretty funny when he told me and I had to wait. Sorry but you can't have anymore of my money.

Not near as bad as some say
New to the area and let me start with, golf is EXPENSIVE here in North GA and none of the courses so far are worth it in my opinion. Have yet to find a decent range or practice facility at a public course yet. The ratio of public to private also seems a little out of balance for the average working class population.
2nd round at this course and it is good challenging course with lots of twists and turns and ups and downs. Greens are hard and fast as you would expect this time of year but rolled consistently. Not the fastest round and there were some typical weekend morons out there but that is to be expected on a Sunday afternoon unfortunately and no fault of the course's. A little marshalling might help but for the most part, it's a decent spot, somewhat affordable, and can cost you a lot of balls if you miss fairways, especially this time of year with all the leaves.

Need new carts
Staff is great, course conditions good. Waited 30 mins past the time for a cart. For the amount of rounds being played. Spend some money on maintenance. Please

You need to be ready for all the hills, and funky configuration of some of the holes.
But course was in good shape.

Sunny November Day
Pace of play on front nine was unfortunate. Course needs to do much better at tee time management. It was better on back nine simply because many finished and left. There is no excuse for slow pace on any golf course if management is properly regulating tee times. Sugarhill was not today. .
