About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Not near as bad as some say
New to the area and let me start with, golf is EXPENSIVE here in North GA and none of the courses so far are worth it in my opinion. Have yet to find a decent range or practice facility at a public course yet. The ratio of public to private also seems a little out of balance for the average working class population.
2nd round at this course and it is good challenging course with lots of twists and turns and ups and downs. Greens are hard and fast as you would expect this time of year but rolled consistently. Not the fastest round and there were some typical weekend morons out there but that is to be expected on a Sunday afternoon unfortunately and no fault of the course's. A little marshalling might help but for the most part, it's a decent spot, somewhat affordable, and can cost you a lot of balls if you miss fairways, especially this time of year with all the leaves.

Need new carts
Staff is great, course conditions good. Waited 30 mins past the time for a cart. For the amount of rounds being played. Spend some money on maintenance. Please

You need to be ready for all the hills, and funky configuration of some of the holes.
But course was in good shape.

Pace of play on front nine was unfortunate. Course needs to do much better at tee time management. It was better on back nine simply because many finished and left. There is no excuse for slow pace on any golf course if management is properly regulating tee times. Sugarhill was not today. .

Course conditions are much improved since I last played. It about 6 months ago.
Bunkers had sand instead of 3’ tall weeds and the greens were as good as I have ever seen them at this course

Big fan
Never played here because I assumed it was a dumpy bargain course. I was very impressed. The fairways are soft and take nice divots, not rock hard ground. Green speed is a little inconsistent hole to hole, but they are very pure. Clubhouse is standard stuff, driving range mats are the only eye sore on the course.

What a course!
Loved this course. Probably right up there as my my favourite course after moving here from Ireland. Greens were in great condition. Not a long course but challenging all the same.
