About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Nice challenging course
Course is a nice challenge. Bunkers need to be redone. You definitely need to focus on shot placement to stay out of trouble.

Maintenance Needed
I like the course layout and pace of play was good for a Saturday morning start. The course was on okay shape, but needs work. Driving range are mats, greens were long & slow, fairways good, traps filled with weeds and the holes were poorly cut. Probably won’t return this year.

Great Muni Course - Great Job Sugar Hill
This course is locally owned and run by the city of Sugar Hill. The topography is absolutely beautiful with many scenic views across the course. The greens have seen continuous improvement and the over all conditions continue to get better and better. The people that work and play could not be nicer!

Fun course but driving range mats terrible.
The course was in good shape. The greens were slow and could of used some care but no bald spots. The grass tees on the driving range were closed and the mats off of the driving range were terrible.

Just too hilly for me. Not your typical GA course.
Greens were hairy. Very Hilly course. Not a course for me. Shot 84 from Blue (15 handicap) so not difficult but you need to play target golf.

Terrible Marshall
We brought a cooler for sandwiches and water. No alcohol. The Marshall was such an imbecile that he embarrassed us in front of other golfers about bringing breakfast and snacks. No one was on the course to serve food or Gatorade, water, anything until we approached #18. He went so far as to disparage us about driving a golf cart in the parking lot because I left my shoe in my vehicle.. How do you get from #9 to #10? Through the parking lot. I've played here before and the course is always in good shape but.... some respect and candor would have been nice instead of outwardly demeaning us before we hit our first tee ball.

Best draining course in the area
Played here many times, layout is good, some real challenging holes. Bunkers are terrible, tee boxes and fairways are in good shape. Greens are perpetually slow, though they are finally healing from being punched almost two months ago. Course drains well after a rain. This is one of the easier courses in the area, I will continue to come and play. Priced lower than most.

Fix the sandtraps
The sandtraps are unplayable. If the fix the sandtraps it would be amazing !!
Thanks for your review! We apologize that our sand traps didn't meet your expectations. With the heavy storms we've gotten, they've washed out the traps. We're currently playing the sand traps as ground under repair. We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again son!

The sand traps are some of the worst I've seen. A lot rocks and weeds in everyone. Just got new clubs and noticed a scratch on a club do to the rock traps. Spend 3 days pulling the weeds and biggest rocks with new sand and I'll come to this course all the time.
