About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Lots of hills
Very wet after heavy rain the night before, standing water everywhere

Course review
I started playing in April of 2020 this course is easy enough for me to keep a pace of play. Challenging enough to upset me on a bad shot, and most of all one of my favorite courses to play every time.

Rude Staff
I will never go back there again. it's so unnecessary for being rude and disrespectful.
Goat Farm
This place has gone way down hill over the years. It’s really a shame because it used to be a fun course to play. Now the rough is so over grown you lose a ball one foot from fairway. And use of the term fairway is liberal at best. The staff here is also extremely rude. Scott Murphy is what some would call a head pro. I call him not a nice person. With Covid going on he still thinks it’s not ok for me to bring my own bottles of water. I should have to purchase his from the pro shop instead. No thank you. He can keep his water. I look forward to the day that the city of sugar hill reads all the negative reviews on this place and the staff and decides to do something about it. It’s in need of a complete overhaul from the top down.

Too many leaves!
This is a nice municipal course but there’s just too many leaves in spots. It’s frustrating to lose a ball because you missed the fairway and can’t find it in the leaves.

No Play Today - No Golf Now Refund
It was too cold and they (Golf Now and Sugar Hill) allowed us to book an early tee time. When we got there they said no play until the temperature is above 36 degrees. No refund from Golf Now and did not want to wait 3 hours to play. The driving range was packed with people waiting!

A nice experience
I enjoyed the course. It does have a few quirky holes like the ‘S’ shaped 9th (I think). The greens were a little slow and some were somewhat bumpy. The back nine rolled a little truer. It’s a thinking man’s course in some respects. You have to be more selective with the driver on a lot of holes. Pace of play wasn’t as bad as some that I have played during the 5+ hour 18 hole Covid golf experience.

Sugar Hill
Showed up and hole #2 a par 5 was closed. No notice prior to showing up or thru GolfNow. Every bunker except for 1 was unplayable.

Course conditions need to improve
I played the course today and it was almost impossible to find your ball of the insane amount of leaves all around the course. They definitely need to be taken care of, if it wasn’t for the lack of maintenance this course would be one of my favorites.

The leaves on the green have to be blown away esp. on the 18th hole which is not far away from management crew, I guess.
