About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Bad fairways, worse staff
Our round began by being berated by the starter and then by the marshal mere minutes later all before hitting our second shots of the day. Both were extremely rude, used profanity, when merely speaking to us and informing us politely of the information the wished to convey would have been received well and adhered to. The marshal later seemed more interested in collecting lost balls than enforcing pace of play, as our round took nearly 5 hours stuck behind a group who had no one in front of them. He also violated the cart path only regulation he had screamed at us to inform us of, (we had pulled two tires off the cart path to allow him room to pass) in his search for lost balls. All in all this course was in awful condition made intolerable by the rudeness of the staff. The one bright spot was the grill where the lady working there was courteous and professional.
Course was decent in wet conditions but Pro Shop needs better attitude
Had the first tee time after a night of rain. I wasn’t even sure they’d even be open. During check in I inquired, as a single, if a rain check or play later would be an option. The gentleman behind the counter was rude and dismissive on my questioning. I wasn’t pushing, I just wanted to know my options. He really had a poor attitude for someone who should be more thankful and appreciative for those of us with better options in this area. As for the course, it drained well due to all the hills and undulations so keep that in mind in wet conditions. Greens were in good shape too. I’ll likely come back at some point due to the course and price and hopefully have a better experience inside the pro shop.

Sugar Hill
I play here maybe once a month...and it usually it slow paced but today was less crowded and it was a great day. Dry conditions. If it is wet, then I would not recommend this course. Somewhat hilly and can get damp/soaked. Go early for best pace.

Good enough for the price
It’s fun course and challenging, nothing obvious bad except some wet conditions on the fair ways.

Fun course with challenging holes
This is a fun course with a challenging layout. Fairways were in pretty good condition, especially for the wintertime. The greens were in good condition as well. Sand traps are pretty rough but that seems to be the case everywhere due to COVID. I got out early and was able to play very fast, it can slow down later in the day.

Decent Course
We went at the beginning of the season so the grass was still brown. Very challenging course with lots of hills. They have coolers on the carts which is nice. Everything was fine. Not doing back flips or have anything negative just a good old fashion good time.

Winter golf
Now the fairways are a little thin. However, in season it’s a different story. The layout is very challenging. Many elevation changes. Large fast undulating greens. It’s a challenge but worth your time to play it.

Mountain Goat Course
Greens roll true but are too fast. Didn’t have a level fairway shot all day. Terrible bunkers.
