Great experience
I enjoyed playing this course. It was in excellent shape and I was able to get an early tee time while I was on vacation with my wife. The staff was very friendly and if I come back to Chicago I am going to play this course again.
Fun course!
I had fun playing this course. Once you get to the green, it's a challenge though.
Harborside International Starboard
Great layout. Exceptional conditions. Nice greens. Very good pace of play.
Links gem
Played as a single by myself on july 4th for all 18 at noon. Barely saw anybody! Grass driving range and short game warmup areas a plus. Carts gps enabled. Walking would be a chore....Expansive picturesque links layout with 2 18hole courses. Just off freeway, feels like out in the prairie. Played starboard course. wide, fair fairways. lots of acreage with plenty of real estate between fairways. Great course conditions. Greens soft, medium speed, healthy and green not baked. Fun but challenging layout requiring driver on all but par threes. Obviously a destination facility. Pro shop and restaurant top notch. Employees friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Has a weekday muni vibe. Not cheap. Got a reasonable rate on golf now, definitely worth the money and the 25 minute freeway drive from downtown Chicago. I will definitely be back. Brief midday thunderstorm reminded me of English courses I’ve played. Twilight would be spectacular.
Excellent links course
Great course great shape. Blue tees were a little tough recommend a hybrid around 6300 yards should be added. Also, marshall should be added. Group in front of us was 2 full holes behind and we waited on every hole. Also refreshment cart was MIA on a 90 degree day.
Great Links Golf!
Course was in great shape- the long grass past the rough is unforgiving- makes it more challenging and fun! Greens rolled ok (some faster than others); each whole has its own personality- which varies with the wind! Im glad I played here - top quality golf for the price.
Great course!
This course is always in great shape. Staff is nice. Always enjoy coming here!
too windy for enjoyment
Average wind speeds between 20-23 mph, with gusts > 30 mph, which made my first round of the year confounding. I would have been quite disappointed and somewhat upset had I paid the full rack rate which can easily exceed $100; thank goodness for the $49 twilight special.
Slow pace. Left after 9.
Why so slow? Gotta be the rough. If you miss your shot, you’re stuck in 10-inch grass-covered Burma. The problem is that people waste everyones’s time by looking for their lost balls in this mess—-potentially several on each hole for high-handicappers. And there is simply no need for it—cut it dow for chrissakes! The greens and fairways were in good shape, but having 3 foursomes waiting on each hole is a pain—took us 1:45 to play 5 holes! To their credit, the course only charged for 9 and gave us credit for half a round.
Fun, Challenging, Windy
Course is always in good shape sand traps we're full course was manicured windy as usual.
Great day in March
Played Harborside on 45 degree day. Typical winds. Course in great shape for March. Great course. Tricky but fair.
After moving back to Chicago a few years back, I needed to find a new course to call home, and Harborshide definitely stepped up to claim that spot. Harborside offers two courses both with great views of the Chicago skyline and excellent playing conditions. Both courses play similar to links style like you’d find at The Open Championship.
The Starboard has been my preferred course recently because it’s slightly less challenging than the Port, but still puts your game to the test. The greens are always in good condition, the facilities are great, the staff is friendly and the starters keep everyone on tack. Slight elevation changes and ever-changing wind conditions allows this course to play really long some days and shorter on others. But at just over 6600 yards off the blues, it plays just right if you ask me. Starboard has a handful of really fun holes on the back nine including the signature #17 par-3 which overlooks Lake Calumet and the city in the distance.
Harborside has one of THE best practice facilities in the Chicagoland area, period. Huge range to hit all kinds of shots, putting greens, chipping greens, etc. Prices have increased because of a major bunker renovation in 2017, but you can book a twilight tee time and save a bit on greens fees. It’s worth the drive from the city and great for playing with friends. I'll keep coming back; no wonder it’s on the top places to play.
Course condition spectacular
Beautiful course! Some casual water in traps but overal great experience. Need a cooler on the carts.
Course conditions
Starboard course was in great shape
Pace of play was excellent.
Played 18 in 3:45
Jewel in the Crown
The crown consists of my five favorite courses in the Chicagoland area. Harborside sits atop them all. It's becoming rare to find a facility that truly cares more about delivering a superior all-around golf experience than sardining as many golfers onto the course as possible because "bottom line". The greens, bunkers and fairways are perfection. Pace of play is a joy. Course architecture is a master class in how to make a course beautiful, interesting and challenging yet fair and enjoyable for golfers of nearly every skill level (very high handicappers may lament the steady depletion of balls over the course of a round). Great practice facilities, great staff.
