Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club

About
Formerly known as Poplar Creek Country Club, the club was transformed into the Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club in 2011. Besides just the name change, the design itself was dramatically reinvented. Fifteen holes were completely redesigned but the golf course's most memorable holes were left untouched. Bunkers and fairways were reconfigured and fescue was planted to provide more depth and definition. To make the course even more challenging, new lakes were also added. The golf course is definitely a shot maker's layout that rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategizing. The final three holes are considered by many locals to be the toughest finishing trio in all of Illinois. It begins with an uphill par 4, followed by the longest par-3 and par-4 holes respectively. The Bridges of Poplar Creek C.C. offers a round that will challenge even the most avid golfers.

Enjoyable round
Have not played here in many years. The course has been well maintained with a number of upgrades. The day we played the greens were aerated. Enjoyable round with a group of fine players. Pace of play was 4 hours. A nice practice area; short game area, grass tees, matts and covered hitting bays with track man. I would say this a challenging layout, smallish greens with water fronting a number of greens. Nice facility, would play again.
Excellent Course
Staff was very friendly and very accommodating. This was a very challenging but excellent golf course. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it and played my best round in a long time on this course. The gps was very accurate and really helped me manage my way through the course
Very nice! Well maintained but ...
Cart person only has cans and can't mix any drinks... She was gone early too. The lady at the bar/grill wasn't the friendliest either... Wouldn't give me a large cup with water, only an 8oz cup... Said she wasn't allowed..... Of course I bought drinks and tipped her accordingly. Othe than that, the gentleman that checked us in was very friendly, polite and professional. Will be back for more, maybe I'll bring my own drinks and water.... Beautiful course. Well maintained.
Need GPS fixed
Multiple issues during the day with the GPS cart restrictions. At least 6 times, the cart stopped while driving on the cart path. On the 18th tee, it was so bad, multiple carts had to drive over 100 yards in reverse to get the cart to move at all.
First play. Solid course but 5 hour round…
7 hcp. Course is in good shape - I was impressed by the greens. Fun layout with creeks and fescue making for good challenge. Nice carts with GPS. Range is chewed up, large bucket is $12. Beware they won’t refund you for a range bucket that you didn’t even ask for… PoP was awful for a Sunday morning - 5 hours. I’ll be back but I’ll be looking for the first tee time of the day
Awful
There should not have been an available tee time. I feel like I was robbed. Every hole had at least one group of slow middle schoolers. We left after it took 2 hours to play 6 holes.
*I love this course, but somebody messed up here and I should get a refund. *
Going down hill
Used to play this course many times each season, have slowed down over the years because of pace, price, staff, and course conditions… went back for a twilight time and everything was the same as I remember. We were the first to go off following a league and it took nearly 3 hours for the front 9 and we ended up skipping the last two holes. They had fivesomes out in front of us and it was brutal. When we got to the back, pace was good until the last 3 holes again where we ran into a group of kids with T shirts and gym shorts, not putting pins back in. No ranger in sight. Paid ~$50 for a twilight time that I would’ve rather just hit a bucket and went home. Don’t send groups off the front behind a bunch of fivesomes, lower the cost, or have a ranger keeping pace up. Will not be back
Putting is a premium
Been playing this course since it used to be called Moon Lake back in the 80s and its nice to see the condition
is still strong. Its really a shot makers course with forced carries to greens and some narrow fairways.
Course was in great shape tee to green. Greens were running smooth and pretty quick, there just arent a lot of flat putts on the undulating greens and pin locations on slopes made putting a premium.
Pace of play was 415 on a Sunday midday which was ok for weekend public play, the holes are just close to each other so it feels slower than actual. Staff and beverage cart were very friendly. Price is getting up there now but a decent value
Great value for a solid course
Course maintenance is absolutely ideal: fairways are tight, rough can be a challenge and greens were in the sweet spot of slow/fast. Some tee boxes were crowded with divots or were uneven but overall quality was great. Starter was a bit entitled but everyone else was great. Very fun layout as although there are plenty of water hazards and bunkers, trees don’t become pressuring due to the wide fairways. We played at 3:00pm for $47 which is a great deal for a course like this. I recommend playing here!
cut the grass
Course is not in as good as in past years. Greens and tees are just ok, as are fairways but could use some attention. Patrons do not do a good job of fixing divots and neither does grounds crew.
Liked the new carts and staff was cordial as always. Biggest issue was the rough. Grass was really deep up to ten inches in some places. It slowed play and was nearly impossible to find the ball or hit out of it even close to the fairway and greens. Sand traps were pretty poor, but it has rained quite a bit lately. Just not as enjoyable experience here as normal.
