A long but we’ll maintained course
Course was in great shape but at 6300 yards from the white tees it was a little too long for this 75 year old. I could have played from the short tees but my wife would not like me hitting from her tees. She’s an above average female golfer as well as very competitive when it comes to golf.
Course conditions
Greens are in bad shape . Tee boxes were not in good shape either. The pandemic is almost over let's get some sand and fix the traps.
Liong & challenging course
Course is well maintained. Challenging but is also good for beginners. My wile & I really enjoyed the course. Nice layout. Paired with very friendly golfers. Always recommended to friends and family..
Paying for three.
I play this course with two other family members and the cost has gone up. I don't believe these fees are unreasonable . The fact that I'm paying for three makes me more picky about green fees and cart fees. The three of us would probably play weekly at Highland Woods. If the fees were lower. We liked this course.
A muni is a muni
In general the course is in average/above average shape and playable for anyone, Greens could be firmer and less marked but hard to blame them for the neglect from all the idiots and new golfers who don’t fix ball marks or for that matter pickup their tee or replace/sand their divot these days. Biggest complaint is no water on the course and no beverage cart. Pace of play was fine at 4:20. Concessions only had hot dogs and brats (if you could call the mushy oversteamed thing they gave me a hot dog). For the price it’s hard to complain as long as they keep it moving on the course.
Good not Great
Highland Woods is my "home course" I live about 10 minutes away and I've played this course 25+ times. If you are not a mid handicap, do yourself a favor and play the course shorter. Greens are usually in good shape but if you catch the course on a colder day they can be tough but then again I am not the best putter. Only issue I truly have with the course the past time I played was the staff inside the clubhouse. Not the most friendly for some reason on the day. Would recommend however and will be back!
