Foursome?
I found a deal for 1 golfer assuming I was a fourth, don’t like playing alone because you’re always caught up with the people in front and waiting. The starter asked if my name was someone else so I assumed that was the name of the group I was with. He told me I can go if I want I asked him if I was by myself he said yes. Halfway through the second hole another single player behind me caught up and joined me and it was the guy I was supposed to be with from the beginning. We caught up to the group in front on the 4th tee with a backup, another single caught up with us on the 5th and jumped and another on 16. Why not just put the 4 of us together from the get go?
Truly Unacceptable
Played Highland Woods many times. Usually okay but they had a scheduled outing and it was diabolically bad. Took 4 hours to play 13 holes. Left after 13. They said a ranger would be involved before we tee’d off because of said outing. We did not see a ranger one time. Groups behind us went inside and got refunds after 9 holes. After hole 9 it took 25 minutes to tee off on 10. Just so incredibly frustrating. Don’t know if I could ever play it again if that’s how they operate.
5 groups on #10
If you're going to play go early in the morning during the week skip the weekends. Layout is kind of cool greens are nice
Almost a 6-hour round on a Saturday..
cart paths are in need of repair
the course is well kept and is a challenging track, the cart paths however are in bad shape and in need of repair very bumpy with large sections missing.
Overall
This course was amazing to me. It was well kept and it was somewhat hard but not too easy which is perfect. All the staff was very friendly and because it was my first time, very welcoming. I will definitely be coming back and I would definitely recommend this course to my friends. Thank you for a wonderful experience
Wide fairways = one of my best rounds
It’s pretty easy to avoid trouble off the tee at Highland Woods, and that definitely can help your score. Playing from the blue tees, it’s long but manageable for a mid-handicapper. The greens were in pretty good shape, but the fairways and tee boxes weren’t great. Several of the women’s tees were too far back or at odd angles, making some holes almost unfair for many women. The driving range is decent, with old mats.
Ahh it's okay
The course is decently maintained for a forest preserve course. They staff is not very friendly. They are the only course in town that I am aware of that makes you prepay.
Prepay and conditions
I don’t like prepaying for all the golfers in my group, that’s ridiculous. The air quality is terrible. because you get no breeze with all the tall trees. But The condition of the course was nice, but had no water on any of the holes or bathrooms.. my group thought the very same thing.
