Country Club Feel
iI recommend this course to those who enjoy a well maintained tree lined course. This 100 plus year old course has charm, challenge and meticulous care! If you want to play a round on a course with a true country club feel and friendly atmospere, Ravisloe is for you!
You HAVE to play this course!
If you can visualize a residential setting in an old upscale historic neighborhood with a gorgeous former private country club manicured to perfection, this is the place for you! Had a wonderful day, perfect weather. Not crowded ( probably because of the normal $65 fees on a Thursday, but well worth it). Starter let me go off early and play alone, which is just fine. Pace was 3.5 hours! Course is like playing a PGA tournament course. It's a must try. Staff very friendly. Just do it!
GREAT DAY
THE WEATHER WAS FANTASTIC. THE COURSE WAS IN GREAT CONDITION AND
THE PACE WAS GREAT. HARDLY EVER WAITING TO MAKE A SHOT.
Perfect Conditioned Course
This Donald Ross design is so unique and I'm very pleased to have the opportunity to play it a few times every year, living in the Chicago area. I played the course on May 22nd and it was in absolutely perfect condition. The greens were fast and consistent, the sand traps were well manicured with the right amount of sand, and the fairways were in wonderful shape as well. Also, the staff is very courteous and go out of their way to make sure you have a great golfing experience. I highly recommend playing this course!
Great course, enjoyable day
This course was well maintained and challenging. Not long but the greenside bunkers make it a real test. A drink cart would have enhanced the round. We booked a hot deal and that was a great value. Not sure that I'd pay full price though. I would definitely play again.
Short But Challenging
Short course, but challenging holes. All the greens are protected and you're going to want to hit it straight. Course is kept up nicely. A little pricey considering the neighboring courses, but a good place to play any day of the week.
Great course
Fairways perfect, staff friendly and helpful a beautiful course I will definitely be back!!
5 stars
Another great day at Ravisloe.! Tony in the shop is a wonderful man. The tall starter is a great guy too. The greenskeeper is also very nice. Stay out of the bunkers
Early Round
Ravisloe is a nice course and you need to play it a couple times to understand the layout. Greens are smallish, but well bunkered. It helps to position your drives for the best angle into several of the greens.
As with most courses, players need to do a better job of replacing divots and fix ball marks.
A Summer Day in November??
On a spectacular near-80 degree day in Chicago's south suburbs - in November (!?!?), Ravisloe displayed all its beautiful scenes as we made the rounds of this 18-hole venerable old country club. Everything about this round was perfect - weather, conditions (impeccable), pace (under 4 hours), amenities (quiet electric carts, snack bar at the turn), clubhouse (stately, vintage building from a by-gone era), even my score was quite acceptable! Nothing to complain about at all. The golf challenge is intermediate - nothing extremely long or difficult - but a fair test for the average golfer. You must play this beauty! See photos.
Wonderful country club experience
Everything about the experience was reminiscent of the classic and timeless country club golf.
Received a call in the morning that the overnight frost was delaying tee times, with staff friendliness and service continuing as we got to the course. The golf shop staff was friendly and informative. The Starter was accommodating and flexible in our start time, and came to the range to let us know when we could tee off. Beverage cart service was seen often on the course without being obtrusive.
The course has a tight compact layout and many golfers walked the course, but we still finished our round with 4.5 hours. The course layout has plenty of bermed sand traps to challenge any golfer, but they are in good shape and playable. The greens, fairways and roughs are all in great shape.
Ravisloe is now one of my favorites, I will definitely go back.
Jim Coan
Course was great even with all the rain. We had too stop due too rain after 9 holes. This course is a gem. One of nicest courses you can play on the south side. Conditions are always great
It was a great day
Thoroughly enjoyed myself beautiful scenery and love the course . I wouldn't mind having a little more water on some of those holes
Fun track
Overall good value as a hot deal. Only complaint was greens were a little slow. Will definitely play again
Practice Round
Some guys really love this course but to each their own. This course makes for great practice round or fine tuning your irons for the better player. With the exceptions of the par 5's you can just leave the driver in the bag and really you don't need it there either. Hit irons or hybrid off the tee and practice some different shots. The undulation of the greens calls for better shots into certain flags which makes it a little more fun the more times you play this course. Because of the length this course plays pretty easy overall.
Staff isn't the friendliest, bordering rude. The course plays super short but is in decent shape with the green speeds and lack of raking bunkers my only complaint. I will only play this course if I can find a deal because it's just not as good as they think.
Sunday August 14
Although the greens were slow, the pace was slow and the tee boxes were beat up, the course is awesome and we definitely will go back.
It is hard to understand why the pace was so slow, other than the course does present some difficult shots due tot he location and depth of the bunkers.
