Beautiful Course
First time playing here and it won't be the last! The condition of the course was excellent. Narrow fairways and small greens reflect the overall design of this course. Ravisloe was once a country club and I'm very happy it went public.
Great Course
Very good course. Donald Ross design restored to it's intended level of difficulty. Course was in excellent condition. Would recommend, and we will go back.
Old style course in great shape!
The course was in GREAT shape including tee boxes, fairways, and greens. Pace of play was fabulous, teeing off at 1pm on Saturday and we never waited once. The only negative was their website tells peoole they have GPS for free through their website once you get on the course. I tried to do this but it gave me an error message. I asked the clubhouse personel and they looked at me as if they had no clue of their own GPS. Would have been nice to have it on the course. Over than that, I highly recommend this course.
Public Donald Ross course in Chicagoland
Just a marvelous classic design. A private club that went belly up is now a public course that is still kept in great condition, and relatively affordable too.
Just ok.
Certainly not the 6th best in the state as they claim. Just a decent track. Not worth the 60 dollars they charge though
Great For Beginners
Third time ever playing. Great open course allowed me to finish in 4.5 hrs. Will come back again.
Great course ! some challenging holes, pins were tucked in some difficult hole locations, hard to get at.very deep bunkers
Loved the layout of this very old with a lot of character golf course. It seems playing this golf course put you in another time period such as the likes of Harry Vardon, Walter Hagan, and Bobby Jones . The clubhouse itself brings back the era of the very early 1900's it was a very enjoyable round of Sunday golf that I will remember for a long time.
Short but stay in fairway
Challenging par 3's, deep bunkers and rough is rough. Lots of big trees, samll greens and great pin placements. I'd recommend it to everyone.
Its an outstanding golf course, not too long but you must make shots!
This is probably my favorite golf course in Illinois. Could not wait to play it when it became a public course. Short enough that you can walk with no problem. Got a great deal on GolfNow and was able to play on a sat. morning for $35. Normal weekend rate is $75!
November Golf
Weather was cold and clear, also being Nov, you cannot expect the course to be in tip top shape. Played for $28 each, so good deal. Beautiful shorter course with lots of bunkers and the greens had lots of undulations. Can't wait to play next summer when it is nicer
Interesting old school course
The course is playable but challenging. It is fairly well maintained - I've played it twice and the first time it was in great shape. The 2nd time the rough was a little ragged but it was late in the season and aeration already underway. There are several small but deep bunkers guarding many of the greens. Not much water except for I believe #7 - a par 3 which requires about 185- 190 yard carry to play directly to the green but you can bail out to the left. Good shot placement is the key to avoiding trouble with overhanging tree branches and the bunkers. Overall an enjoyable round.
Course has mature tree's and nice fairways.
Great golf experience, mature tree lined golf holes. Fairways are in great condition & you need to stay in the fairways to score well. I really enjoy older courses like Ravisloe with mature trees that are in great condition. Very enjoyable round of golf.
Classic Donald Ross Course
Fantastic old course set up. If you've played a Donald Ross course before (Pinehurst being the most prominent example), it sets up very similarly with tiny, sloping greens and gently curving fairways. It's not a super long course but visually intimidating. Late in the season the greens get a little rough, but we played it after some rain so they were managable (around 10-11 on stimp). Sand is difficult to get out of just because the bunkers are deep and it's almost a clay like sand mix. Clubhouse is gorgeous. Fantastic place to play. Would highly recommend it!
