Good Character, but in bad shape
The course should be very nice, but the greens are very beat up with tons on divot marks. People need to repair their divots, but the course should also put the effort in to fix them. They could be the best greens around. Too many other nice courses to pay $58 on a week day that don't have rock hard fairways and poorly kept greens. Practice area was nice.
Amazing Championship Course in the Heart of Mt Prospect
I'll start by saying that I was a huge fan of the "old course" at MPGC. I wasn't sure I was going to like the changes but honestly, this course is better than ever. It's both challenging and meticulously maintained, which makes for a perfect day away from the office. I have a love affair with the fifth tee, which is like walking on a cloud. I nail my drive every time -- I absolutely love everything about this hole. Overall, the greens and bunker placements are more challenging than they used to be but I've come to find them to be very fun to play against. The greens roll with good speed and have undulations that make them a real treat. I highly recommend this course without reservation -- it's a playground for people at any skill level who love the challenge of golf!
Incredible value and course condition
This has to be one of the best values for the $$ in all of Chicagoland. Have played here once a month for the last 2 years and I love it. The facility is reminiscent of a country club setting, and it's always in great shape. The fairways are great and the superintendent does a phenomenal job with the greens. Friendliest pro shop and lounge employees I have come across. Go play Mt Prospect, you will have fun, be challenged, and enjoy a great round of golf.
Started to take a turn for the worse
Pace of play gets worse as the day wears on. We never saw a ranger out and there is no starter at the tee box to have any idea of whats going on. The course has started to take a turn for the worse. Fairways and greens were not cared for. We used to enjoy taking friends from out of town to this course. Will not be doing so anymore...
Fantastic!
I had a work golf outing for 28 golfers at the Mount Prospect Golf Course. I set the whole thing up with the Club Pro, Jeff Langguth. This guy was awesome and totally took care of us. A couple of times I called and he wasn't available because he had lessons. Every person I talked to knew exactly what was going on and who I was. This golf course recently went through a massive redevelopment. This course is very nice and close to the Chicago metro area so you don't have to drive out to the boon docks. Actually we had to pick up a couple of guys that morning at O'Hare Airport and it was a 15 minute drive to the course in morning traffic. The previous evening the Chicago area got pounded by a 3" monsoon. When we arrived at the course we were told "cart path only" due to the rain. By 11:00 a.m. we were notified via GPS that the course had dried out and the course was opened up. It was obvious that the re-development of this course was graded to drain properly. By 1:00 p.m. you would of never known it had rained like it did the day before. The club house at this course is unbelievable! It didn't look like a Park District golf course. I would highly recommend this golf course and give it 5 STARS!
Mt. Prospect Golf Club
The course was in great shape. The course itself is a nice challenge, but the Greens are incredible. Undulations and slopes on almost every green are quite challenging.
I highly recommend playing this course.
Hi Matt, We really appreciate the great review! We love hearing positive feedback from our golfers! Please come and visit us again soon!
Horrible Pace Of Play
Teed off at 5:24 PM Monday. After playing 1 hole we were immediately backed up. After playing the 3rd hole, there were over 10 people in 3 different groups waiting to play. We were never notified of the mens league going on and we were never told that the mens league groups would be 5 person groups all walking. It took us over an hour to play 3 holes. Eventually, my group called the front desk to try to get pace of play moving but our calls were never answered or returned. Ultimately we were forced to skip the rest of front 9 and skip to the back where we ultimately couldn't finish our round when we typically finish in great time. I was incredibly disappointed.
We appreciate your feedback and we're sorry to hear that your experience at our course was less than great. Our Golf Operations Manager, Debra Cromie, would like to discuss your experience further. You can email her at dcromie@mppd.org or call 847-259-4200. Thank you and have a great day!
Gimmicky course
First and foremost, the starter, Joe, was the rudest person I have ever met on a golf course (our random playing partners shared a similar sentiment). Was a complete jerk to us, held us up way past our tee time despite the fact that the first hole was wide open and wouldn't even communicate with us what the heck he was doing. Really bad start.
The course itself is odd. It is in decent condition. Some greens are pure, others are riddled with burnt out ball marks. The greens were firm and fast, which I love. The greens are overly undulated to the point of being gimicky. I'm all for tiered greens that penalize putting it on the wrong level but this place has roller coaster greens with dips and valleys that are no more than 7 ft wide or long. I had 2 or three putts that I would have had to chip from the green over a stupid side hill that juts into the green to get it close to the hole. I chose to just putt around to 15-20 ft and deal with the three putt. At one point I expected to find a clowns mouth I had to putt through. All these gimmicks really slowed down pace of play as groups in front of us took a lifetime on the greens.
We're so sorry to hear about your experience with us and we apologize for the behavior of our starter. Our Golf Operations Manager, Debra Cromie, would like to discuss this with you further. If you'd like, you can reach her at dcromie@mppd.org or via phone at 847-259-4200
Excellent golf course
I grew up playing Mt. Prospect through my high school career, so I was quite familiar with the old golf course and was a little sad when I found out it was going to be remodeled. HOWEVER, once the renovations were done, I could not be more impressed and pleased with the new facilities and the conditions. The old course was quite straight forward and pretty easy to get around. While the new course still has a similar layout than before, it is more challenging, making it that much more fun to play. I have a blast any time I go out to play! The course is always in great condition, green speed is always consistent, and the staff is so friendly. Whether it be morning, afternoon or evening golf, you are in for a treat! I can't believe Mt. Prospect is a public course...it is nicer than some of the country clubs around!
Nice course
Short course but not easy. Little bit of water and greens are not flat. It is a challenge.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review!
Country club quality
Excellent course, country club quality at a reasonable price. Pace of play on this date though was very poor. Slow 4 somes in front that caused 5-7 minute waits before almost every shot. No rangers on the course enforcing pace of play. Better to play in the fall when it's cooler and less people out there to avoid this happening again.
This course is extremely close to our house use it in a pinch
We have golfed on new and old and prefer the old course it is quite pricey unless you play twilight.
Thank you for the 4 star review! Hope to see you out here soon!
Great conditions
Visiting from out of town. The location was in an established part of town. The course has stood the test of time. The conditions for playing golf were perfect as was the course on that day. The course wasn't terribly difficult which was great for a once in awhile golfer. There were many young golfers that day which added to my day. The only flaw of the day was the pace of play. Many golfers were walking.
I will play it again the next time I'm in town.
One of the great courses in Chicago
The course is in top notch condition. They do take special care of their course. Clean cut tee boxes, nice smooth fairways and consistent clean greens though they are challenging. Love the course!!!
Thank you so much for the 5 stars! We're so happy to hear that you enjoy the course! Please come and see us again soon.
Great design, great value
A wonderful course that was recently redesigned. The work put into the course takes a shorter course (~6,300 yards) and makes it tremendous fun and challenging. There are several shorter holes that require near perfect tee shots and approach shots to make par. If you miss the green, you face a very difficult up and down. Even if you hit the green, there are very few mid to longer length putts that are auto 2-putts.
I love the old-school design elements at Mt. Prospect. The staff has been very polite and accommodating to the groups I have brought there. Carts have GPS units, which I attribute to the faster play I have experienced every time I have played here.
It is on my list of courses I play several times per year.
Incredibly Unique and Gorgeous
Being so fresh from leaving the operations side of the golf industry, it's still very foreign to me to have to pay anything when I play... but I would easily dish out another $50 to visit this property again, over and over! ...honestly, the $50 I paid felt like a steal. This club could easily pull in a rate that's closer to $70-85 during the season.
With pristine tee boxes, well lined features and some of the most unique greens I've ever played, you shouldn't have a problem deciding to play Mt. Prospect.
Overall, an easy 5/5 Stars from me on all accounts.
The greens were my favorite feature. Even though they can really be the demise of your round, there are plenty of opportunities for you to use the aggressive undulation to your advantage at times!
Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and informative. The Pro Shop was well stocked, but not overwhelming. Golf carts had an easy to use GPS System built right into the cart and the entire course was extremely well marked which made it easy for me to know exactly where I was headed next.
I'll be back soon.

Great New Layout
Been teeing it up at this track for quite some time and recently played the new and IMPROVED. What a phenomenal renovation/layout, makes for a challenging yet fun round...course is in superb shape! I'll be back soon.
Thank you so much for the 5 stars! We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed your day with us! Please come and see us again soon.
Great Golf Experience
The updates to this course made it most interesting and enjoyable. Very well maintained - with some challenging holes. The staff was very personable which added to the overall experience. Lunch on the patio overlooking the course also added to the enjoyment!
