Annbriar Golf Course

No water to drink on course…. No cart person to sell water either. Not a good look for the nicest public course around stl.

One of my favorite places to play, always in great shape and $75 weekend summer rate is a steal. Booked an 8:50 tee time and wasn’t told there was a tournament at 9. Ended up being a 6 hour round from that, so if you book, definitely ask if there’s a tournament being played that day. Never had a bad experience there, still one of my favorites.

This is one of the few courses where you get that country club feel, with a public course. Can’t say enough great things about this course.

The last time I played Annbriar about a month ago, I said the fairways were a bit rough in areas. This still continues and even some of the tees are looking rough too. It is not awful but it does take away from the playing experience, because Annbriar is usually in pristine condition. Annbriar is still a great course and worth playing.

Annbriar is starting to have a problem with a weed called goosegrass. It looks like crabgrass and is unsightly. You can find it in most fairways, with these being the worse (5, 6, 8 & 9). Some of the white tees even had it (11, 16, 17). Some bare spots on tees (1, 16).

The greens are in excellent shape, however, they putted on the slower side. The 15th green was showing some minor stress.

Overall, the rough was good, cut at a lower level to make finding your ball easier. Annbriar has not had significant rain in some time. Parts of the rough are really scorched. The hillside on the par 3, 15th, is very dry. I felt parts of the 16th fairway were on the dry side too.

The service in the restaurant was outstanding. The course did have a beverage cart out during the warm day.

I still recommend Annbriar, but it is not in the pristine shape that you & I are accustomed to seeing.

This is st Louis’ finest public access course without a doubt. Currently the course couldn’t be in better shape. Both fairways and greens are in outstanding shape. It’s like playing a primo resort course for 1/4 of the $$.

We had nice weather on a day that was supposed to be near 100'. That being said, their was hardly any drinking water to be found on the course. Nothing on the front. And only one cooler on the back (hole 11?). When we made the turn, there was ice, but the water dispenser was not working. And the water jug was empty. Just dumb. Apparently, they hosted a junior PGA event before our T-time. These players tore up the course. Lots of deep divots. Plus unfixed ball marks on the greens. Conditions on the front side just fair. Weeds starting to mix into the rich zoisia. Back nine, much better. For the course that is supposed to be the best public course in the St Louis area, I have to say, I'm a little disappointed. They've let their standards slip. Now, about the pace of play. We played in 4 hours flat. But we had 2 different groups of 2 hit into us. Besides that. A fun day with the bud's. Caught a good price through Golfnow and had a nice lunch before the round. C'mon Annbriar. Get your title and standards back.

Annbriar is a great place to play - greens fees are reasonable and the course is normally in great shape. I like the hybrid options for tees that the scorecard has that combines using white and blue tees to get a distance in between playing a single set of tees (there are multiple options for this). The Pro Shop and Bar are both well stocked. All around a solid choice.

I have played this course off and on for the last 10 years plus. In my opinion, the course is in the best condition i have ever seen it in. The tee to green conditions are as good as the high end resort courses I have played . The only downside I see is even on week days the wait on each tee prevents you from being able to get any type of rhythm in your play.

Hadn't played Annbriar in about 10 years and boy did I miss it. You really can't beat this place on the quality and value for the money. Coming from Texas, I can tell you that this place is a steal. Pristine fairways, greens that roll true all day long, views, and a challenging layout for any golfer. When I'm in town again, I'll definitely be back here. Keep up the great work guys, it really shows!
