About
Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo is one of the top 10 golf courses in Illinois. The course was built on rolling farmland covered with native wild grasses. The layout eases you into the challenges with a links-style front nine that is less demanding than the back nine. The fairways are invitingly wide but if you miss them, you'll be faced with thick fescue. The back nine takes advantage of the surprisingly undulating terrain, which is unexpected since just across the river the land is almost totally flat. Annbriar's signature hole, the par-4 11th, was voted the best hole in the St. Louis area. From an elevated tee, golfers enjoy a stunning view as they play down into a valley. This hole is also the no. 1 handicap hole on Annbriar Golf Course.

Great if warm day!
Annbriar is a beautiful course with interesting holes. A little expensive but the staff takes care of you and delivers a classy experience. Be prepared for a fun but difficult round!

Slow Play
Course layout is phenomenal one of my favorites. This was my second time not being able to finish my 18 due to older twosomes playing very slow and not letting anyone through. The clientele is questionable as far as play and etiquette. Wish I could say I loved it but the pace of play has made me not want to go back. Wish this wasn’t the case. The architect nailed it.

Hot and Wait
Course as always was excellent.! Big complaint was pace! We were a twosome, a twosome in front of us(they did not want to team up), then 2 very slow threesomes. NEVER SAW A MARSHALL?? Midway through round we were backed 4 deep on some tee boxes. Again best course in area, no marshals plus one of the pricer courses. You might rethink , before booking?

Pace kills
Played here a few times and love the course. Too bad lack of rangers and way too many players that have no golf etiquette bring the experience down. On three separate occasions, there were people driving back into our fairway, not even waiting for us to tee off. Several groups backed up on multiple tees. Just poor pace management.
Nice layout, staff was cordial. But overall experience management was lacking.

6 hour round minimums
Beautiful course but first weeks round took 5 plus. Today if we would have stayed would have been well over 6 hours. 3 group back up on 11. Once they figure out how to space there times and get done some Marshall’s out there they will be good to go

Great course. Was getting into prime condition. The course is gives you different types of playing throughout the round. The first 5 holes are links style while back has much more reaction change and more challenging layout

Annbriar Does Everything Right
Annbriar is a course that does everything right. It is my favorite St. Louis Metro course. Here are things that make it so special…
• It is in outstanding shape
• Excellent, straightforward design. Which means pace of play is no issue.
• Some very picturesque holes. Holes 8, 11 & 14.
• It is reasonably priced for the quality course you are playing. Several other courses in the St. Louis Metro charge a higher price and do not get close to the standards of Annbriar.
• For 2019, it was the #1 rated course in Illinois by Golf Advisor. That is really all you need to know.
• The staff is always friendly. The owner, Mr. Nobbe, is always around chatting with the golfers.
• The had beverage carts, snack shop open to buy drinks on a warm day.
• With the Covid-19 issues, they were allowing outside lunch seating, with full service with a server.

Best public in the St Louis area
Excellent course with five sets of tees playable for all skill levels. Challenging but fair with no stupid holes. We like that it has both 9 and 18 hole rates. I just wish it was closer to my house.

Superb Shape - Best Greens Around
Loved the condition of the course. Extremely well-maintained and manicured. Staff was fun and friendly. No complaints at all!
ONLY complaint was the pace of play. On some holes (3-4 in a row on the back) were a severe backup of 3 groups on green/tee. Frustrating to wait and there wasn’t a Marshall helping out or investigating/pushing. Otherwise, amazing course and layout.
