Annbriar Golf Course
About
Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo is one of the top 10 golf courses in Illinois. The course was built on rolling farmland covered with native wild grasses. The layout eases you into the challenges with a links-style front nine that is less demanding than the back nine. The fairways are invitingly wide but if you miss them, you'll be faced with thick fescue. The back nine takes advantage of the surprisingly undulating terrain, which is unexpected since just across the river the land is almost totally flat. Annbriar's signature hole, the par-4 11th, was voted the best hole in the St. Louis area. From an elevated tee, golfers enjoy a stunning view as they play down into a valley. This hole is also the no. 1 handicap hole on Annbriar Golf Course.

Golfer Reviews
Annbriar is a course I very much love to play. It is fair if players will use the correct tees. Each hole is unique with the back nine a little more difficult then the front nine.
The course is set back from the highway and is a quiet, beautiful setting. I think its the best golf experience for the entire metro St. Louis area.
Management is committed to excellence!!
Great course but extremely slow
This isn't always an issue at Annbriar, but this round took 2:45 to get through the front 9. I called the clubhouse and they took care of the group immediately in front, but the real issue was about 5 groups ahead. I skipped over to 14 after 9. On my way there I saw the root cause group teeing off on 13. When I was walking down 18 (so having played 4.5 holes) I saw them just driving up to 15 green. Totally not acceptable to let one group of slowpokes ruin the day for 6 groups behind them.
Otherwise the course is great.
Need a new Marshal
Took 6 hours to play. We tee'd off at 1:40, and almost got brought in by the sun being to low. The staff was rude, when I showed up I asked if I could have a cart, and was asked in an seemingly accusatory voice: "for what." I'm at a golf course... so probably to play golf... then the guy who we were paired up with called the marshal to complain about speed. He made no progressess speeding up. Then when I asked 4the same guy if he was the marshal after the round, he said yes. Then he was confused whether he was the marshal or not. Not enjoyable to play this course when you wait 15 minutes at each tee box. Sadly, they don't seem to have their stuff together.
Backed Up
I played on Friday on Saturday in September. On Friday the course was so packed that I had to play the front nine twice to get through before dark. On Saturday they moved my tee time back 20 minutes and I was unable to finish the course as the people in front us were taking a long time. I booked two days in a row and didnt get to play holes 16 through 18 either day. Thanks Annbriar!
Ball Marks Everywhere
I'm from out of town and I love this course. However, it's unfortunate that the people of metro St.Louis don't take care of this course. There are ball marks everywhere. Very sad.
Fantastic course. It is a beautiful layout that is challenging but fair.
The best around
The best public course in St. Louis And southern il
P E R F E C T!
This is one of my favorites! It never fails to make me say "WOW"! Absolutely every part of the course was in phenomenal shape. The tee boxes, the fairways, the greens, and yes even the bunkers. I was a single yesterday and was put with another single. We played fast and two groups let us play through them which rarely happens. We played in 3 1/2 hours which was delightful! It would have been the perfect outing with the exception of the arrogant jerk I got stuck playing with. But that is not the course's fault. A rare luck of the draw. Play this golf course! You'll have zero regrets!
Best Course in St. Louis area for the money.
Course was in amazing conditions and lay out is amazing. Pin locations were mixed some difficult others not so much. Look forward to playing again.
Pace of Play
No course marshal on a jam-packed Sunday afternoon (Labor Day weekend). Pace of play on front 9 went well. On the back 9, pace of play was so backed up that we were stacked 4 groups deep on the 14th tee box and the sun was setting fast. This is my only complaint on a nicely maintained course. Will return. Hopefully marshal(s) will be present to keep things moving, if warranted.
Best course within an hour of STL
This course just continues to be a joy to play and I look forward to my next round. Challenging from all tees, fairways are lush, and the greens are pro designed. GOLFERS FIX YOU BALL MARKS PLEASE! This damage will not repair itself and it effects hundreds of players that will follow you.
So many positives and so far for me there's been zero negatives! Very nice design, very pretty hole. Lots of extra details all over the course that make it even better.
Just go you'll love it.
100% the BEST COURSE near STL
Loved it so much I played Saturday and Sunday at 7:20am. Not only is this the best course within an hour of STL, it's easily a top 5 for me and I play around the world. Conditions really could not have been better. Fairways LUSH. Greens with character. Layout challenging. Views from most tee boxes AMAZING. Tons of extra landscaping details make this an oasis and my new regular course.
So worth the drive from Scott AFB!
Best Public Course in the St. Louis Metro Area
It is always a treat to play Annbriar. Been playing there since it opened in 1993. I always tell people, if you're going to play one public course in the St. Louis metro area - this is the course to play. Great design, picturesque and in great shape. Hole #11 is the best in the area.
Nice course
Always challenging and fun to play. Pace is a little challenging as well, even during mid-week. Food in the clubhouse is VG.
What a shame
After years of playing this nice course my foursome settled into the clubhouse for cocktails after 18. The girls where great and appreciated our generosity. Now for the ugly. I had set up some friends ahead of time to pick me and my vehicle up so I wouldn't be driving. While they were waiting on me to pay the check the staff decided to call the police on them for waiting in the parking lot. These folks are a very respectable couple with a nice vehicle. They had a child with them that got scared when the police (2 units) confronted them. For the likes of me I don't know why the staff would have not just asked them what they were there for. Don't see how I can go back.
