About
Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo is one of the top 10 golf courses in Illinois. The course was built on rolling farmland covered with native wild grasses. The layout eases you into the challenges with a links-style front nine that is less demanding than the back nine. The fairways are invitingly wide but if you miss them, you'll be faced with thick fescue. The back nine takes advantage of the surprisingly undulating terrain, which is unexpected since just across the river the land is almost totally flat. Annbriar's signature hole, the par-4 11th, was voted the best hole in the St. Louis area. From an elevated tee, golfers enjoy a stunning view as they play down into a valley. This hole is also the no. 1 handicap hole on Annbriar Golf Course.

Outstanding value
Annbriar is arguably the best public course in the STL area. The staff is always nice and professional. I have played this course probably 10 times in the past couple years....never a disappointment. My only complaint would be that the majority of the tee boxes are on uneven ground and they need to be mowed at a much lower level. But that's a small thing considering that this is a great golf course.
Phenomenal
I have played this course nearly hundreds of times. I love it every time. The staff is one of the best I've ever seen run a golf course. The course is always manicured better than nearly every public golf course in St. Louis. The layout is my favorite. It is scrabble with straightforward holes with many challenging shots that make for a perfect round for any type of golfer. I give Annbriar my highest recommendation.

Excellent course
Course was in excellent shape and one of my favorites in the St. Louis metro area.
Only thing was, and it's that time of year on many courses, there are a few holes with creek beds that have snakes in them. Saw a large copperhead and a baby one on the putting green. I notified the staff and they stated they would look into it immediately. At this time of year all golfers should be aware of snakes coming out of hibernation.
It was a Friday and the restaurant had a wonderful all you can eat spread.

Slow, slow, slow
The course is laid out nicely. However, there has been lots of rain and the rough was really overgrown, greens were slow and the fairways were mush. I can live with that but it was so packed on the course, it took us 6 hours to finish! I will never go back on a weekend. This course is notorious for over booking. Bad experience this time.

Having a large amount of rain results in the course being cart path only for a few weeks , which can result in slower rounds. One of the finest courses in the area
Course rules were "carts on path only". Could easily have been 90 degree rule. Too much unnecessary walking. Also, no yardage markers on course except on some sprinkler heads which were hard to find.

Had a great time
Played in mid February. Course was in as good a condition as could be. A few blind shots so would love to play it again. Interesting, and well designed. Staff was very pleasurable and accommodating.

What a Treat
Went to visit my daughter and use the gift card they got me for Annbriar while I was in Waterloo. What a gift! Can't say enough about this course, the staff, the food, etc...By far the best course in Southern Illinois. Do not pass up an opportunity to play this course!!

Pick your tee's, then prepare to be rewarded or penalized based upon ball location after each shot.
The first time you play the course will lead quickly to
"OK let's do this again", after the second time, "OK I left some shots out there, let's do it again". Get the idea,
a great layout, taken care of with love and the interest to see that everyone has an enjoyable time. If , you need the ocean go there, otherwise one of the best public courses in the Midwest. Enjoy!

I had not played this course in about three years. Typically played it three to four times a year. Always one of my favorites!!!
