West/South at Arrowhead Golf Club
About
There are 27 holes of championship golf available at Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton. The course spans over 220 beautifully wooded acres with not a home in sight. The holes are divided into three nines that can be played in different combinations. Throughout the entire golf course, water comes into play on 17 holes and there are 77 strategically placed bunkers. No matter what course you choose, you'll come across several challenges but they can all accommodate a wide range of skill levels. The West/South combination has several formidable water holes, including the seventh hole on the West, which is nearly an island green, and the South's par-3 fourth hole where you will have to carry a massive lake. In addition to the golf course, Arrowhead boasts a practice facility with a lighted range, putting and chipping greens and bunkers

Arrowhead- C rated
Staff needs to be more friendly and engaging. Tee boxes were in poor condition. Course fairways were excellent, under wet conditions. Greens were good
Excellent conditions and value
Arrowhead's 9-hole east course was in excellent condition with some very scenic holes. Staff was very friendly and well organized. We plan to return.
A Good Round for 9 holes
Spent an enjoyable afternoon with two of my sons with 9 holes of golf. The pace of play was very good, as we finished our 9 in a little over 2 hours. Didn't feel particularly rushed, but we moved along. The course was in good shape. A number of the holes feature water on one side or the other. There's also a number of fairway bunkers on other holes. We enjoyed the challenge and look forward to playing the other two 9 hole courses at Arrowhead.
Perfect Day
The weather was ideal and with the exception of one tee, the course was in excellent shape. Large, super fast greens made for challenging, but fair putting. Terrific scenery, beautiful clubhouse, and friendly staff made for a most enjoyable round of golf. Strongly recommended. Will definitely be back soon.
Beautiful
Friendly staff and great club house. Course was beautiful. Only disappointment was the 2 slow men that didn't let us play through.
Really well kept up this year
We got a hot deal for 9. Amazing price!
Coarse looked beautiful we all were saying. Pace was a little slow. You should try to send walkers behind riders and I didn't see any rangers monitoring.
Enjoyable round
The course was in great shape and the staff was very accomodating
Greens
The course was in amazing shape and the greens rolled very true. The only caution I have for someone playing here is the green speeds and slopes. Im usually a straight bogey golfer, but I definitely felt over matched by the greens. I wouldve been fine with one or the other, but the severe slope and speed amplified the mistakes of my already not awesome putting to a point that I felt like I had no chance. If youre looking for a great quality course this is it, but I think it plays much tougher than its course rating and slope would indicate.
Great day!
This course was really awesome. The GPS enabled carts were terrific, the staff was laid back and friendly, and the course was in great shape.
Arrowhead golf course
Great course. Still in great condition after it rained all morning. True greens. Challenging, but fun
Arrowhead
The course was great. Greens very good. The two yahoos they paired us with made it either very frustrating or very amusing depending on which attitude I took
Arrowhead
Challenging course with tall rough right now. Traps have very good quality sand. Fairways in nice shape
Quick Round of Golf
The course was in great shape. We were able to sneak in a mid-morning round of golf complete in 3.25 hours.
Great Facility
Very nice course, in great shape and the GPS in the carts is an awesome feature.
Good course
Good course for the value and Memorial Day weekend.
Very Nice Public Course
Best sand I've hit out of ever on a public course!
Okay but nothing great
Course looks like it could be really nice but the greens were not very good, bare in a lot of spots, very bumpy, and very slow. Overall course was okay, and if it was in a little better condition, especially the greens, course would have been great. Great design and undulation.
Great shape but really cold
Golfing in November in Chicago is going to be cold. I knew that going in. I was surprised at how well maintained Arrowhead was at this time of the year. For $10 for 9 holes w/a cart, I couldn't resist.
However this review is more about arrowhead in general...During the summer this course gets pounded. The park district is proud of this course and charges accordingly and packs them in. It is worth a try if you can go off-peak but otherwise plan on waiting. Slow and expensive is typical of public golf in Chicago but Arrowhead at least provides a beautiful course. I must say one of the rangers rushed us and came up to us to tell us we were 'way out of position' when we were 1/2 a shot back. I think he expected us to be waiting to hit EVERY shot that day. We mentioned it to the club staff and they promptly displayed a 'I don't give a care' attitude. Don't be one minute last or walking up to the first tee when you book your tee time. You will be reminded about how busy the course is and how most people wait on-deck to line up and play. Like I said, I will only go to Arrowhead when I catch it on a steal of a deal and during off-peak hours. Playing during prime time and paying full freight, no thanks. The clubhouse has incredible food and good beer. The wait staff in the clubhouse is totally different than the golf crew. Have fun and enjoy a well maintained course.
The South Course is very enjoyable.
Everyone at the Proshop was super friendly. The Starter was Al, and even though we didn't have to wait until the last minute to tee off, he was funny. The course was in great shape. The Rangers, especially Howard on the South Course, kept the pace of play great and did it with smiles and compliments of ball striking. At the end of the day, this was a great experience.
Great course and great staff-very helpful
Great course and great staff-very helpful. Pristine course conditions and great pace of play.
