Just aerified. Back nine closed
They only opened the front nine, which were full of sands. Back nine was closed for aerification.
Layout a different change
If you want to play a different layout this course is it. Tee boxes need work but same course for the last 10 years.
Starting to deteriorate
Last couple of times we have played here we noticed that the grass throughout the course is starting to get really brown, especially greens, they are starting to show signs of drying out. Hope they don’t let it get to bad.
Great round of golf
It’s always a great round of golf at Cresta Verde. The only negative I could comment on the some of the fairways are little bumpy but despite that it’s a great course.
Cresta with best course conditions yet
It has been a while since we last played here but love the closeness to home, course conditions were great where greens were playing fast and true. The lack of maintenance or total absence of bunker sand makes it odd and we hope some day they may be brought back to standard sand bin let plays, for
Now you will have to settle with brush filled pits. TKe relief with no penalty stroke if you happen to fall in One of them.
Great Day
Played on a HotDeal with friends. For the value, it was a superb day. Pace of play was excellent. Could play as fast as we liked. Except in a few areas, fairways are well kept, and greens are extremely good. Only issue was there is no sand in the bunkers. The bunkers are there, but they are now overgrown with weeds. Sad given that from what I can see in regards to their locations, having sand in them would make the course so much better and really more beautiful.
Greens were soft in good shape good fairways I played a. 77
Ok conditions, great staff
Played this course several times before and the course conditions are better than I’ve seen in the past. Tee boxes could use some work as well as the bunkers. (No sand and marked off). The fairways and greens are in good shape though. Super friendly staff in the clubhouse and at the grill!
Nice course
Had a great day. Nice layout, a bit dated but fun. Greens are in great shape, fairways are average for this time of year. 3 hour round, $17 for 18 holes w/cart. I will definitely be back
Great course
We really enjoy this course but we would like to see the bunkers full of sand...that would be great.
Crusty Green
The course is crusty but green lol This Course has a lot of potential but they manage to keep this one playable and enjoyable. Some challenging holes and very gettable course....Owner very nice and personable. Course just needs more care, all bunkers are signed “under repair” but more like “under....ummm...hmmm...forget about it” just keep it under $35 buck and you won’t feel like you over paid to play 18 holes. Good practice.
Great course, super friendly staff
One of the best courses the area. Love this course and the staff are over-the-top friendly. This is for sure a must play course. Love hole 17 with its elevated tee box, real fun course.
Great value with Golfnow price
The course was in good shape, fairways were a little dry but not terrible. The greens were very good, although a little bumpy.
Played for Golfnow rate of $12 in 3 hours - excellent value!!
Nice course but needs some TLC
Nice course and I’d play here again, but.....
Every single bunker has been totally “abandoned, neglected and forgotten” by the greens keeping staff. You can tell where bunkers used to be but are now barren wastelands of overgrowth. It’s obvious the course owners have given up on maintaining the bunkers and that really takes away from this course. The fairways are really narrow and are all but maybe 10% of them are completely surrounded by houses. I read that this is one of the oldest courses (80+) in the state, where the likes of Lucille Ball and her husband Desi Arnaz and Burt Lancaster used to play here decades ago. To me, this makes Cresta Verde a “classic” old school course. I can only imagine what it was like to golf here 60-80 years ago when there was nothing else out here but the old Norconian Club further west. This place is pretty nostalgic if you understand some of its rich history. The staff here is excellent and the putting greens were great. Most (not all) of the fairways are in good shape but the tee boxes are pretty much all thrashed, but still playable. I do recommend this course again because it’s not crowded. It is challenging with hills and narrow fairways at times. Saw several coyotes on the fairways which is good. The song-dogs destroy the “VC” (Varmint Cong” as Bill Murray’s character from Caddy Shack Called them) and keep the grass burrow free. The coyotes don’t interfere with play and it’s nice to see the wildlife. So for neglected bunkers and poor tee boxes, I can only give the course 2-stars overall. I’m excited however to play here again in a few weeks or so. I just hope they bring back the bunkers, because every great course has them! (Note to self: what’s a golf course without sand traps??? Come on Cresta Verde!!!! ;-)
