River Run Golf Course
About
River Run Golf Club in Ocean City is just minutes away from the beach. The golf course has different front and back nines that make for an interesting round. This Gary Player design starts out across a wide-open landscape before moving on to more tree-lined terrain on the backside. The tighter back nine is tougher than the first nine but overall it's an approachable golf course. The player-friendly layout is gentle enough for beginners with medium-sized greens that aren't especially difficult and generous fairways that offer plenty of room. There is modest bunkering along the greens and fairways and a few lakes and some marshland come into play as well. While River Run Golf Club may not be the most formidable test, the course provides just enough of a challenge for scratch golfers.

Worth a hot deal for sure
Got a great hot deal. Makes it worth it. Greens all in great shape. 3 or 4 of the fairways have been lost completely. All in all worth a trip. Wouldn’t pay more than $40. Get a deal less than that go for it. You’ll be pleased.
Winter golf
We play a lot of winter golf in the mid-Atlantic region so we know what to expect as far as soft fairways, green conditions, bunkers, etc.. We were not expecting water filled bunkers, fairways that you would literally sink into , mud everywhere you trekked. This is a decent layout but it has obviously deteriorated significantly through the years and no longer deserves the Gary Player Signature course endorsement.
Nice course, good rate !
I’m visiting from S Cal and found the course in very good shape especially for November. Greens and Tee boxes were excellent. There was some aeration work on several fairways but not a big deal. The course was wet in some areas and doesn’t seem to drain well so may want to wait several days after a rain storm. The saddest part was there were no alcohol sales, I believe because the season was ending and they were closing for the winter(?)
Little disappointed
Disappointed in the cart path only rule for the day. Starter said reason was course was wet and gave no exception for my 83 year old handicapped father. Course ended up being bone dry with the exception of one hole. Also, they had just aerated the fairways and the were covered with plugs. No roll at all.
Excellent course, unbelievably kind and considerate staff Let us do 90° To our ball even though course was quite wet from previous days rain.
Greens in great condition
The starter was very friendly and service oriented. One of the nicest starters we’ve encountered. We had a great day and was able to play 36 holes.
River Run First Time Playing
Course is a nice challenge. We got a good deal through Golf Now and due to tee box being open, we were allowed to go off early. We did find the course very wet and several fairways had been aerated. We were not told about this and even noticed on the drive in, but the starter claimed to no nothing about it. The course does not drain well and although it had not rained in over 2 days, the course was very very wet in many areas. The grounds crew had driven in some areas and made a mess of the fairways but they were working hard to get the course back to shape. With that said, the crew during the last 5 holes seemed to be following us and would often be coming up behind us without shutting off equipment, etc. It was a bit aggravating after about the 3rd hole of this occurring. This course may be a gem when it isn't wet and the crew is not following you.
Please get better drainage
Sorry I will not be playing here furthermore due to poor drainage and slow slow pace if pkay
Pace of play
We got there, asked people shop for cup of coffee, he looked at us like we had three heads. Asked for a bottle of water, they had one bottle left, mind you our tee time was 8:17am on a Saturday. Got to the first tee thought it was going to be a great day. Got to the second tee and realized the group in front of us had not even tee’s off yet because the group in front of them was looking for balls 150 yards to the right of the fairway. Round took 4 1/2 hours and we played it twice that day as we were on a golf trip. Gary Player should be ashamed of himself to have his name on that course. We call pro shop to complain about slow play and we’re told the course is just jammed up, no rangers, no starters. You couldn’t pay me to go back there. Thank god for Baywood greens golf club and Heritage golf club!!!
Nice basic track
Nice course, in good shape, and no waiting. They were out of balls on the practice range, but had we given ourselves more time that probably wouldn't have been an issue. Very nice staff and fun course to play.
Golf at River Run Golf Course
The golf course was in great shape, tee boxes, greens and fairways. The course was very friendly and accommodating. This was my first time playing River Run and I plan to put this on my once a year play list for me and my golf buddies. If you haven't played River Run, I recommend that you do.
