About
River Run Golf Club in Ocean City is just minutes away from the beach. The golf course has different front and back nines that make for an interesting round. This Gary Player design starts out across a wide-open landscape before moving on to more tree-lined terrain on the backside. The tighter back nine is tougher than the first nine but overall it's an approachable golf course. The player-friendly layout is gentle enough for beginners with medium-sized greens that aren't especially difficult and generous fairways that offer plenty of room. There is modest bunkering along the greens and fairways and a few lakes and some marshland come into play as well. While River Run Golf Club may not be the most formidable test, the course provides just enough of a challenge for scratch golfers.

Golfer Reviews
Excellent but...
First time players at River Run and we enjoyed the friendly staff, interesting holes, beautiful water views, great pro shop and restaurant...BUT the pace of play was unacceptable and on the 15th hole, we found out why. There were 5 groups on the one hole which included a five-some on the green. Where was the ranger?
Course
I had a awesome day on the course. Weather was perfect and pace of play was fantastic. Some holes were still a little wet a d some work being done. But had a great time and course was well maintained. Greens were great - still had a little hop due to aeration.
Course fantastic
I was very impressed for the condition of the course - especially this early on the season. Several wet spots and some course work - but overall in great condition. Plus it helped that it was sunny and 70 and pace of play was awesome
Really enjoyed the course, wonderful layout, the pro let us precede two foursomes, because we were playing as a twosomes. Flew around the course played in 3.5 hours. Quite wet because of a big rainstorm the night before. Loved the course!! Pro was very friendly and did a great job. We would play there again. Loved it.
Worth a hot deal for sure
Got a great hot deal. Makes it worth it. Greens all in great shape. 3 or 4 of the fairways have been lost completely. All in all worth a trip. Wouldn’t pay more than $40. Get a deal less than that go for it. You’ll be pleased.
Winter golf
We play a lot of winter golf in the mid-Atlantic region so we know what to expect as far as soft fairways, green conditions, bunkers, etc.. We were not expecting water filled bunkers, fairways that you would literally sink into , mud everywhere you trekked. This is a decent layout but it has obviously deteriorated significantly through the years and no longer deserves the Gary Player Signature course endorsement.
Nice course, good rate !
I’m visiting from S Cal and found the course in very good shape especially for November. Greens and Tee boxes were excellent. There was some aeration work on several fairways but not a big deal. The course was wet in some areas and doesn’t seem to drain well so may want to wait several days after a rain storm. The saddest part was there were no alcohol sales, I believe because the season was ending and they were closing for the winter(?)
Little disappointed
Disappointed in the cart path only rule for the day. Starter said reason was course was wet and gave no exception for my 83 year old handicapped father. Course ended up being bone dry with the exception of one hole. Also, they had just aerated the fairways and the were covered with plugs. No roll at all.
Greens in great condition
The starter was very friendly and service oriented. One of the nicest starters we’ve encountered. We had a great day and was able to play 36 holes.
River Run First Time Playing
Course is a nice challenge. We got a good deal through Golf Now and due to tee box being open, we were allowed to go off early. We did find the course very wet and several fairways had been aerated. We were not told about this and even noticed on the drive in, but the starter claimed to no nothing about it. The course does not drain well and although it had not rained in over 2 days, the course was very very wet in many areas. The grounds crew had driven in some areas and made a mess of the fairways but they were working hard to get the course back to shape. With that said, the crew during the last 5 holes seemed to be following us and would often be coming up behind us without shutting off equipment, etc. It was a bit aggravating after about the 3rd hole of this occurring. This course may be a gem when it isn't wet and the crew is not following you.
