River Run Golf Course
About
River Run Golf Club in Ocean City is just minutes away from the beach. The golf course has different front and back nines that make for an interesting round. This Gary Player design starts out across a wide-open landscape before moving on to more tree-lined terrain on the backside. The tighter back nine is tougher than the first nine but overall it's an approachable golf course. The player-friendly layout is gentle enough for beginners with medium-sized greens that aren't especially difficult and generous fairways that offer plenty of room. There is modest bunkering along the greens and fairways and a few lakes and some marshland come into play as well. While River Run Golf Club may not be the most formidable test, the course provides just enough of a challenge for scratch golfers.

Ocean City golf
Played every course in and around Ocean City Md, this is the most enjoyable of all.
Very nice course
Other than cart path only because of excessive rain very challenging course.
Nice course
The course was very nice, it was very hot. We were held up on the back 9 by the group in front . Wish we could have kept our pace. The staff was very good, and the pro shop had equipment fairly priced. Would like to return for another round.
Not just a golf course...
it was fun to play this course again after 7 years, still a good challenge.
need to play smart
Nice 0cean City warmup
Course was well conditioned with a few interesting holes. Nice par 3 over water and short par 4 over a marsh were my favorites. Course was empty the day I played and that allowed some practice shots. Not as scenic and the facility is not as nice as some of the more famous courses in the area but if you get a deal, go for it. Don't pay much over $40.
Great course for the money!
I had played this course about 10 years ago. This. Course is in great condition. They had just finished a tournament and decided not to have the cart girl work afterwards. She missed some good tips and the course lost revenue from this foursome.
Beautiful Course...Bargain on Golf Now
Not the most Challenging Course, I played it very well.
Several Birdy Opportunities.
Course is in Excellent Condition.
Greens were in great Shape, straight forward putts.
Friendly Staff.
I would play again when I am in the area.
OC Visitor
Golf course was in decent shape considering the date. Greens were a little slow, more ball marks than I would like. A nice place for a round when you are on vacation. Pace of play was actually less than 4 hours.
Pretty course
Tight fairways. Greens relatively slow with not a lot of break. Fun course to play. Had 2:36 tee time and no bev cart. Some water and 3 non working soda machines
Love this course
It may not get the rave reviews of other Ocean City, MD courses or offer ocean views but River Run is a great course to play. It's a Gary Player design that offers some challenging holes, and some not as challenging. Feel it's a solid course to add to the list of already great plays in OC.
Great course for the money
Greens seemed grainy, but putted very true. Front nine is definitely easier than the back. Accommodating staff. I'll be back.
great course
The staff are nice and very friendly. I was allowed
to start at 12:00 when my tee time was 12:30.
The course is well maintained and in great shape.
For $30.00 green fee with cart and unlimited driving range balls this is one of the
best deals I got during my stay here in OC. I highly
recommend this course and would play here again.
Great course
The course was in great shape , wonderful round of golf.
Great layout, but...
I really enjoyed the layout of the course. Challenging tee shots, and challenging greens to go pinseeking.
However, the greens were that of a dog track executive 9. Slow, maybe rolling at an 8, bumpy, and it looked as if 3 different types of grass were growing on them.
Fairways were pretty good, not patchy, and the rough was nice and lush.
Teeboxes were a bit strange from the back ( very tiny ), in OK shape, and one tee box on a par 3 was a driving range mat?? Strange.
The shape of the driving range was pathetic, but at least the balls were complimentary.
Very friendly staff thought, so that is always nice.
Will not play again.
Maintenance!!!!!
A decent and challenging course if you don't mind grounds crew mowing fairways with little regard to the golfer patrons... they mowed in front of us, wouldn't stop while we hit, and ran over one ball in the rough. Also, the green grass on the front 9 was incredibly long, making it impossible to putt with any degree of confidence (but cut shorter on the back???). This is hard to understand because the area had perfect, clear, dry weather two full days before we played at noon. The ranger showed no concern when we complained and was of little help.
Finally, a staff member was stationed on one par 3 (150 yards) offering $10 chances to hit the green -- pro shop discounts as a prize. She was persistent and wouldn't take "no thanks" for an answer. Maybe this is OK if the money goes to a charity ... not if it's going to the pro shop.
As for the course, it is challenging with narrow fairways and thick, long (4-5 inch) roughs. Fairways are lined with tall oaks and pines, providing plenty of shade for hot, summer days -- probably its only redeeming factor.
Rough too rough
We got on for $35 after noon, so it was a good deal no matter what. However, compared to other courses in the same regular price range I'd play them instead.
The rough was two inches long and thick. This would be good and fine except there was no first cut or intermediate rough, just this stuff lining the fairly narrow fairways. Hitting your ball 1-5 feet wide of the fairways was too penal and not enjoyable.
Tried it again!
Had not played in years... had a bad experience there. Decided to try it again, and I really enjoyed it. Love the layout, and found that you don't want driver on every par 4.
Nice Ocean Course
I enjoyed the course overall. It was in good shape and had a nice layout. We played from the blues, which was just over 6300 yards. I will say that the par 5s and par 3s tended to be on the long side, while many of the par 4s were pretty short. There was a decent amount of water on the course, but not too much to make it too difficult. The greens were a bit easier than I've played because there wasn't too much undulation in them. Overall, though, I enjoyed the course and had a good time.
Improved conditions of course.
Improved conditions of course. The superintendent has done a good job of improving the greens from the last time we played there, although they were rough.
Everything in great shape except the greens
Course was in excellent shape however the greens were very bumpy and the roll of them was not on par with what is expected at top tier courses. I believe this has to do with the type of grass used and outside of this I thought the course was fair and playable.
