National Golf Club

We had an incredible time playing the course on Friday. Friendly staff, challenging layout, and incredible pace of play made for a great round. I particularly appreciated the detail the pro shop put into making sure we were comfortable and even taking time to show us around some of the new renovations in the clubhouse. I’ll definitely be back!

The clubhouse is closed and being renovated...looks like a major redo is in progress from the website. So I can't comment on any amenities, bar, food, or pro shop. I hope they get it all worked out in time for spring but I don't see it unless they bring in an army.

As for the course, I was very happy overall. The bunkers are a mess..Useless mud that are obviously being ignored....Boo

The fairways are bermuda strain and in good shape! The greens were nice and rolled fine.

The layout is two different styles. The front is narrow with old ramblers surrounding the course. There's a few weird greens with unneeded hump(s) to try to add some variation. But there are some tough demanding tee shots to clear lakes and you can easily get out of position if you go right....the entire design is setup for a draw/straight ball player. You don't need driver on some holes. I can see in summertime that you'd hit a good shot that would bounce into the woods, so accuracy is a premium.

The back is wide open, wide fairways, much more through McMansions with huge watering ponds as the only real problems. The course finished on a par 3.

So kudos to management who are trying to keep this place going during a major renovation. It's further from DC than advertised with travel time down in PG county near the Potomac (but like Potomac shores, no views of the Potomac river ).

So my overall view is to check back in 2022 to see how their renovations are doing and this might be a good lower cost country club like a hidden creek. Good luck to the new owners, I just hope they have money to put money into this project as there's a huge need for mid level country clubs in the dc area.

I had the liberty playing this course a few years back and it had truly started to decline. When I saw this course on the GolfNow app I decided to give it another try, and glad I did. It’s a fun track nestled just outside of Washington DC and gives a hint of enjoyable nature while enjoying the game of golf. It’s my understanding this course is under new management and the clubhouse and several other amenities are currently under construction. Janelle Cash is great to Interact with and he’s always willing to share clubhouse insight

Very nice course in a nice neighborhood. Good variety of holes and very good greens and fairways. Traps need lots of work and amenities are slim to none.

This is a fun club that is well-maintained and with a fun layout from the white tees. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. It would be great if it opened up to non-members!

It is our first time playing this private course that has interesting layout. It has tree-lined fairways that are quite dry and hard, small fast greens with undulations that are rolling true and in great shape, rock-hard bunkers that are borderline unfair to play, inconsistent rough that is generally in okay shape but are not fair in some spots, and quite a few water features although most are not in play. Some of the tee boxes are in rough shape with bold spots. It is an experience playing this old-school style course in an old neighborhood club. The drive range has relatively new balls but there are unmarked for yardage. The club house is in renovation and not accessible; no water anywhere for drink or even washing hands.

Played 3.5 hours today. Conditions of course were below average but greens in great shape. Great value for 20 minutes outside DC. Strange layout, with small greens and several narrow fairways.

The course is in excellent condition, and it’s also a challenge.

The drawback is that the Clubhouse is closed, with no proShop or amenities to speak of.

First time playing this private course. The greens ere immaculate. Holes were a challenge… a lot of water. Lots of fun to play.

Really enjoyed the time out at National! Great course with some challenging setups and very well kept. Extremely nice staff and very helpful, we felt at home as ‘members for the day’. Will be back, very good experience!

Good value for the money. Some narrow fairways and small greens. Difficult sight lines on some holes if it is your first time playing here. Some tee boxes needed mowing and work. Fairways were decent and greens rolled true.

Long par 3 and few tight fairways. Good greens. Will play this course again
