Disappointed

This was my first time to play Ocean Pines - and unfortunately my last..
Positives: classic design with mature tree lined fairways - great design...greens had just been redone and were very true in their roll.....staff was very courteous, welcoming and appreciative of your business....frequently saw the player's assistant on the course to ensure round moved smoothly.....saw the cart girl 3x's during the round which was appropriate frequency
Negatives: Fairways were in AWFUL condition at best....grass was dead in many spots as if there were areas everywhere that didn't get water.....hence it was impossible to get yardage bc you couldn't find a sprinkler head and when you found one many time there wasn't any yardage printed on them!....only thing i saw was a white and blue line on the cart path identifying 150 and 200 yards - i mean seriously? that's it??....no bag drop staff during dropoff nor cart return! - what's up with that??

Paid $105 for this round - at that price my expectations are high for any course - above all the course should be in outstanding fall condition and this was was far from it.....at the least, all the little details that are controllable should be taken care of and for this most part this course did that.....but in the end, i'm the type who expects that if you're going to charge north of a hundred bills your course better be in terrific shape REGARDLESS of the layout.....so in the end, a very nice Robert Trent Jones Sr designed golf course that was kept in shameful condition.....sorry but i won't be back as there are too many choices in the Ocean City, MD area that are a better value....

Real nice course

Great traditional tree lined course. Lots of options off the tee on a good number of holes. Course is always in great shape. The greens are firm and fast. Like it a lot, great value!!

Fairways need a lot of work

Greens were punched but the fairways were terrible. Your ball plugged 80% of the time, the fairway grass ranged from 1 to 3 inches with different textures of grass, the fairways have many spots thare just mud with no grass. Green fees were too high for the poor course conditions. I will not play here again for the price and it is a shame because the design is challenging.

Fairways need some work

Course has many unique and beautiful holes. Basically, it is a course with huge potential. There has been a lot of rain in recent weeks on Delmarva and many fairways with swails have filled with water and killed the grass. Then the hot weather came and dried everything out. A superintendent's nightmare. I will play this course again in late fall or next spring.

Tough - need your 'A' game. Bring your sand wedge and leave your driver in the bag on many tees.

Tee boxes need closer attention- water and sand - guess that is why it is Tee boxes need closer attention- water and sand - guess that is why it is called Ocean View. Greens were difficult to get a good- Ocean View. Greens were difficult to get a good read - saw several puts break up hill

challenging course , narrow fairways, fairways need attention

Practice facilty nice with grass tees is a big plus. Course is narrow with many dogleg holes. This is probably because there is a lot of houses around the course. If you drive the ball really well, you will overhit . Doglegs require fairways woods. Plenty of water hazards. Fairways were in bad condition when I was there. Greens very good. would like to go back when fairways are better.

Very nice late afternoon round.

First time playing this course. Here on vacation from Phoenix where we play alot of golf there and all over the West Coast. We were looking for that type of difficult course with the East Coast layout and turf conditions. This course came up as an option to all the others in Ocean City area we have all played, with a great price and good reviews. It was a late tee off (3:30 pm) and course was pretty empty and in good shape for being played all morning. We usually play in 3 hours or less and this course did not disappoint that goal. Great layout with some challenging holes and expcept for a few holes with minor turf issue spots the green were well maintained, and receptive to shots. Bunkers were very nice with great white sand. I would rate this course high compared to the other more well know ones in the area and recommened it highly for the layout and cost no mater what time of day.

Coures was closed due to heavy rain, but I was told it was open.

I called at 6:30AM to see if the course would be open. I was told yes. When I got there only one maintenance person was there to tell me the course was not closed. Very poor communication. No interest in going back.

The course has some nice features.

Must keep your ball in the fairway as the ruff was deep.

Newly renovated back, very nice.

Renovated Greens are in superb condition. Front nine rough are thick, so must be in fairwaiy

Great value for the Ocean city area, greens are in great condition.
There are several challenging holes, ex. Par 3 over water with bunkers all around.
Highly recommend and would play again.
Rough are super thick increasing the challenge level as you must be in the short grass

Beautiful course with a great mix of woodland and water in super condition. Will play again soon!

Came across the Golf Course on Golf Now. Did not know much about it just wanted a round of golf near OC for Memorial Weekend. Turned out to be one of the better courses I've played in MD. Great features of wood and water and in Pristine Condition, will be back there on my next trip.

The course has one great feature, the sand traps. That's it!

Way overpriced! The back nine fairways had clumps of crab grass which carefully hid your ball from sight - maybe a new
type of obstacle? Nine greens were all recently replaced and the speed was all over the place.

The staff did not mention the changes or condition when we signed in. $50 was very high for this course in its condition.

Will no be back!!
