Located a short distance from the Walt Disney World Resort and Orlando's airport, Hunter's Creek Golf Course offered a challenging game. It was the longest golf course in Florida and has been rated among the top 75 public courses in the U.S. The course winded through stately pines and thirteen lakes. The spacious, rolling fairways and expansive, undulating greens presented interesting challenges on the course. There were also many strategically placed bunkers and water hazards that come into play on almost every hole.

What a shame
Hunters creek used to be a wonderful corse to play. The layout is wonderful with ample choices for course length. A fair yet challenging layout. However, the course maintenance has suffered lately. The greens are about the worst I’ve played in Florida, some even had GUR signs on portions! It’s a shame this venerable old Florida course has gone so far down hill. Hopefully the management will try to bring it back to its old condition
Great layout, greens need work
Wife and I played and we enjoyed it. Lots of roll and good risk/reward. Greens had good speed, but the bumps were bad.
All the staff members were courteous, professional and helpful. We’d play there again. Not necessarily a place I would play with my buddies unless the greens were in better shape.
Always worth the play!
We always try to play Hunter's Creek when in Orlando. Good layout, fun to play, generous fairways nothing tricked up, smallish undulating greens with a sprinkling of strategic bunkering around the greens and through the fairways. Lot's of variety and length for all skill levels. Greens were in rough shape this year but that's winter golf in Florida, conditions can be hit and miss, and for $55 it's still great value. The staff are always great, friendly and helpful and the crew in the cart barn always look after you. It's a good track, classic layout and a good tune up course for us "snow birds" before heading out to drop $100-200 a round on some of the other places. I always recommend this course for others to play!
Greens really poor
I read this course was up for sale Jan 2019 so I presume under new management. The greens where really bad, ball would bounce across them so rough, many areas bald. Not worth 40 bucks a round.
Course needs improvement
We have noticed the condition of the course has deteriorated. At one point, the condition of the green at all holes were much better than the current condition. Most of the green is now rough and overgrown with weeds. The sand bunkers also need to have drainage and condition improved. It was one of my favourite golf course and hope the golf course will make the corrections and improvement.
Nice day at Hunters
Perfect day for golf and the course was in great shape. A couple of greens are showing winter signs of water damage, but overall the course us in good shape
Not worth it
I wanted to like this course so badly. It has a great layout and plays nice and easy. However, the condition of the course is the worst I have played in 15 years. The greens are bare and half sand, the bunkers are underwater or packed sand, dead trees and branches down everywhere. All the bridges need to be repaired. I thought my cart was going to fall through them all due to the heave rot. The fairways are mostly weeds. For $15 more you can play a 5 star golf club.
What has happened?
Many years ago we stopped playing Hunters Creek because of its condition.. Two years ago, we ventured back and there was a massive improvement. It was being restored to its previous time when US Open qualifiers were held there. Sadly yesterday the course has, once again, deteriorated to a level where we won't be back. We had to wait until the 16th green before we found one with grass covering the entire green and without weeds. There is a lot of choice in Central Florida and your money is best spent elsewhere.
This course needs some work
The course grass generally was dried out. Some greens were spotty. Tee areas were dried out and spotty.
The course layout was nice with some challenging holes but overall fair if you hit it straight.
Avid Golfer
The course was in terrible condition, The cart didn't have any GPS, The Greens where slow and patchy, and some areas no grass at all. The sand bunkers have no sand and hard pan....had more sand in my shoe! Tee's where terrible, but when your teeing up the ball it didn't matter. The fairways where dry and hard which made the ball roll with some shots over 300 yds. I played other courses in the area and far this was the worst, don't waste your money on this one!!
Awful course condition
Orlando resident.
This is my first review on Golf Advisor.
I felt compelled to write a review because of the horrible course condition. I have been playing here for 8 years now. Over the course of the last 3 years I have seen the decline in the upkeep of the course in massive proportions.
Several, if not most of the greens are either withered away to sand or have weeds. One of them on the front 9 is like putting on the lunar surface.
Tee boxes mostly blown out.
Fairways are thin with weeds
Kids playing on the fairways.
I spoke to a resident who said the company that owns the course are trying to sell it and rumor has it that they are going to build more apartments and it will become a 9 hole course.
I can't fault the employees. They have always been friendly.
RIP Hunter's Creek. I won't be back.
