About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2021.
Located a short distance from the Walt Disney World Resort and Orlando's airport, Hunter's Creek Golf Course offered a challenging game. It was the longest golf course in Florida and has been rated among the top 75 public courses in the U.S. The course winded through stately pines and thirteen lakes. The spacious, rolling fairways and expansive, undulating greens presented interesting challenges on the course. There were also many strategically placed bunkers and water hazards that come into play on almost every hole.

Course has good value
Course conditions weren't great, but it was a good value and it wasn't very crowded. Yardage varies from 6,000- to over 7,000.
Just About Ready!
Considering the blistering heat and lack of rain, the course, for the most part, is recovering nicely. The fairways, although brown, appear to be healthy. The greens, having been recently aerated, are filling in and, with a little more rain, should be in superb condition by the middle of the month. The club lowered the price while the greens recover, which is a good deal. The practice area is average. Even though I play at the earliest possible time in the morning, I live on the course, and haven't seen a beverage cart running much at all. The staff, although friendly and professional, is spartan, with the outside services person only working abbreviated hours in the morning. Not sure what happens during the afternoon. Sprinkler control is still a problem. The system is old, and broken, but it looks like the maintenance crew has pieced enough of it together to at least get water to all the greens. As such, the forward tee boxes at 1, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, and, 18 along with the fairways at 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15 and 16, are in serious need of water. I'm optimistic that, with the rains brought on by warmer afternoon weather, the course will return to excellent playing condition within a month or so.
Decent golf, no customer service
Played this course for $14 on a hot deal which may be why the staff in pro shop couldn't be bothered. Told to help ourselves to a buggy but struggled to find one with a key, didn't tell us that we needed a code for the restrooms on the course and only when I went looking for a cool box was I told that I had to buy something first before I could have one. I certainly don't mind spending money at any course I play but we certainly didn't hang around for drinks as the staff seemed unfriendly
The course itself is reasonably short with some tight fairways to test your accuracy. The staff have tended the greens well during the recent drought which were some of the best we've seen although some of the fairways were very brown. Looking at the low levels of water in the ponds you have to admire how well they have maintained the greens
Overall a decent game for the price paid
Very poor condition for a good course
The entire course was completely scorched which meant barely a green blade of grass was seen. The bunkers were totally unkempt and the greens were a sandpit.
Had the course been given the TLC it deserved it would be a really nice golf course. A real shame!
Course is in need of a lot of water. Both greens and fairways.
Good course.
I thought this was a nice course but unfortunately the weather has played havoc with the fairways. It has been extremely dry for the month of April and the fairways the grass was completely dead. On top of this the greens had been recently aerated.
Dust bowl
I have played here many times and yet to see this course at it potentiall best. Tees chewed up fairways dead and greens punched. Current drought not helping matters. Even so good tee boxes bunkers and greens are still possible.
Doors will close soon
"We have irrigation, but we don't turn it on."
This was the worst conditioned golf course I've ever played. Sure, its greens had been aerated seemingly a day or two before -- with no warning to the golfer -- but even if they hadn't been, the conditioning would have rated "poor." Highlight was Derrick, the outside assistant, who was straightforward ("May I ask why you are here today?"), helpful, honest and engaging.
Hunters Creek not up to it
Hunters creek front nine was closed for air raiding so played back twice. Burned out conditions and sand on greens made for a dismal round. Not up to any kind of standards. Waste of a day! Nothing good.
The fairways were all burnt out
I played here before it is a nice course to play for an average golfer ... the staff was friendly but the fairways were brutal all burnt out
Very slow pace of play
My tee time was 2:08 and I was put behind 2 groups of six. I know it was a tournament...but they stayed on the greens after putting, talking and writing their scores down, etc. Get off the green!!! Oh, and they walked the course as well.
Great Practice Round, But Thats All.
I live nearby and play here when I get a great deal and want to get some swings in. Tee boxes are horrific, but who cares, try to find a level surface (good luck) and put a peg in the ground. Fairways are yellow straw, but oddly, unlike hardpan, the ball sits up a little and you can actually make good contact. I played as a single and played 2-3 balls a hole with no one in front of me or behind me (go figure). The Greens are green, but bumpy and uneven so don't wager anything that may come down to a putt. I had a good day, but just wanted to slap it around a bit. This is a classic, "Good Layout, If They Only Took Care of It" course.
Horrible
This course is the worst course that I've played in the past 20 years. Golf now pictures showed a nice green course and when I arrived it was totally brown and virtually unplayable. I only played nine holes a quit.
Slowly Improving
The greens seem to be improving every day. It appears they are being watered more, along with more fertilizer and grooming. Still, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 11th and 12th greens are marginal at best. Bunkers are in great shape, and it appears the rake problem has been resolved. The fairways are drying out quickly. It also appears that many of the sprinkler heads don't function, and some of the ones that do are watering in the wrong direction. The 5th, 7th, 10th (before the water), and 16th are dry in the middle of the airway, but the rough on each side is being watered regularly. And, beginning today, there is no one working outside services. The desk attendant now handles both inside and outside activities. That doesn't work! An average golf facility, with poor customer service will eventually fail. The Snow Birds have gone home, and now it's just us locals. And we know where to find the best deals in quality and customer service.
